Divinity: Original Sin 2 – character leveling guide

From the article you will learn how to pump companions in the game – the best builds for Fein, Red Prince, Lowse, Beast, Ifan ben Mezd and Sebilla

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is a difficult game, and with this in mind, we tried to find the most effective builds for you for all your companions. By following our advice, you will turn any opponent into a dummy.

Keep in mind that an individual character cannot be stronger than any opponent, as they each have their own strengths and weaknesses. However, these builds will allow you to become a formidable opponent for most of the enemies you encounter.

Introduction

The following builds are based on the character classes that are given to each of the potential companions in the game by default. You choose a class at the moment when you communicate and take a companion into the squad, and you are given a choice.

In this article, we’ll show you how to get the most out of each of your potential companions while traveling in Rivellon.

Note. You can change the build of the character at any time in the game, starting from the third chapter, when you will have access to the gallery “Lady Revenge”. If you don’t like something, then go to the ship, go down into the hold and interact with the magic mirror. This will allow you to try out the alternate builds we’ve listed for some of the characters.

Fein – build 1

By default, Fein will be a Pyromancer / Necromancer. He also starts out as a character with a two-handed weapon. However, you must remember that we are talking about the undead, which means that it will not take health recovery potions to heal him, but potions with poison.

Fein

Basic Abilities :

Minor Abilities :

  • Two weapons.

Attributes :

  • Body type.

Talents :

  • Long hands.
  • Primordial magic.

This build is what the game tells you to do while controlling Fein. Geomancy is very important because it is a powerful force that can be used to heal Fein. Pyrokinetics combined with geomancy allows you to detonate poison and deal additional fire damage. Finally, necromancy is great for a wide range of spells, some of which allow you to heal Fein and simultaneously deal damage to multiple opponents.

Fein – build 2

This is an alternate build for Fein. He contradicts his default settings and instead focuses on Fein being a skeleton.

Basic Abilities :

  • Distant battle.
  • The skill of the hunt.

Minor Abilities :

Attributes :

Talents :

  • Long hands.
  • Elemental guide.

This build transforms Fein from a mage to an elemental caster using ranged combat. The Hunting Mastery and Geomancy skills work well together, and since Fein is a skeleton, he gains a bonus from many of the poison skills you gain access to. Pyrokinetic is great for this build to detonate poison. And his focus on intelligence will make him a powerful ranged fighter.

Sebilla

By default, this deadly elf is a Rogue. This build fits perfectly into her capabilities and makes her one of the best thieves and criminals.

Sebilla

Basic Abilities :

  • Two weapons.
  • The art of murder.

Minor Abilities :

Attributes :

  • Body type.

Talents :

  • A master of evasion.

This skill combination is designed to make Sebilla a source of massive damage. You will want to focus mainly on two weapons and the art of assassination to maximize your mobility and damage. Necromancy is a great third skill as it will provide several healing options and other handy spells.

It will also be enough to spend one or two points in the “Polymorph” skill, since it will increase the character’s characteristics, while simultaneously providing access to some powerful transformation skills, including “Chicken Paw” and “Spread Your Wings”.

Elves have a useful flesh-eating racial skill (Flesh Sacrifice) that fits perfectly into the rogue’s playstyle. This is because many rogue skills require no more than one action point. For this reason, we suggest sticking to this particular style of play.

The Red Prince – build 1

By default, this royal lizard is the foremost warrior. He has some flexibility, but we suggest that he still be in the front line of attack and his Fire Breath never goes to waste.

The Red Prince

Basic Abilities :

Minor Abilities :

  • One-handed weapon.

Attributes :

  • Body type.

Talents :

  • Big guy.
  • Living armor.

This build for the Red Prince is designed to make him a real fiery melee warrior, capable of causing serious destruction. Focus on warfare, pyrokinetics, and geomancy. Military will allow you to become a master of battles, geomancy will offer useful protective spells, while pyrokinetics will allow you to combine fire spells and the Prince’s breath.

Add a few points to leadership to improve your team’s skills, and one or two points to one-handed weapons. If you do all of the above, you will get an advanced warrior who almost never dies and destroys his enemies with fiery fury.

The Red Prince – build 2

Due to the fact that the fiery breath of the Red Prince is significantly limited, we propose to make him a melee warrior. But this does not mean that it should be exclusively a tank.

Basic Abilities :

  • Two-handed weapon.

Minor Abilities :

Attributes :

  • Body type.

Talents :

  • Big guy.

This build drops the Prince’s shield and some health in favor of higher damage. Invest as many attribute points as possible into strength while simultaneously pumping two-handed weapons, warfare and transformation. This will make you a devastating monster in combat, capable of pounding, stunning, and dealing with any opponent.

Lowse

As the only character that has healing skills, Louse is a very valuable companion that you can take with you.

Lowse

Basic Abilities :

Minor Abilities :

Attributes :

  • Body type.

Talents :

  • Long hands.

Considering that she is a mage by default, our only build for her is to empower her existing spells. Hydrosophistika will allow her to heal the party even more and remove buffs from them, geomancy allows you to restore armor and interfere with enemies, while aerotheurgy is designed to be able to deal high damage and stun enemies. Finally, one item to summon will allow Lousa to use the Incarnation spell and summon a creature that will fight for her.

This build requires a lot of memory slots, so you need to pump this attribute well and be sure to take the Mnemonic talent.

Ifan ben Mezd – build 1

Ifan is a ranged fighter, and the only character to start with the Animal Friend talent, which makes him a very valuable character early on.

Ifan ben Mezd

Basic Abilities :

  • The skill of the hunt.
  • Distant battle.

Minor Abilities :

Attributes :

  • Body type.

Talents :

  • Long hands.
  • Elemental guide.

This build focuses on who Ifan ben-Mezd is originally and strengthens him in that direction. By focusing on the skill of hunting and geomancy, you can deal massive amounts of physical and poisonous damage, as well as be able to buff allies and impose several strong negative effects on enemies.

One point of pyrokinetics is enough to shoot fire, making it possible to blast poisoned opponents, while the Elemental Guide should make arrows even more powerful.

Ifan ben Mezd – build 2

This alternate build for Ifan cuts off his original skills and instead focuses on starting talents that give him an increased critical hit chance.

Basic Abilities :

  • Two weapons.
  • The art of fighting.

Minor Abilities :

Attributes :

  • Body type.

Talents :

  • A master of evasion.

This classic Rogue build will allow you to deal increased physical damage. This is due to the fact that Ifan starts with a talent that increases his chance to critically hit. Therefore, we want to go with the method of increasing critical hits and increasing the likelihood of such damage. The two weapons and the art of combat combine to create a very agile and incredibly strong character, while transformation is mainly used to get a lot of stats and use spells that will help in combat (for example, “Chicken Paw”).

Beast

This stalwart gnome is a frontline character by default and must remain so through his amazing talents.

Beast

Basic Abilities :

  • Two-handed weapon.

Minor Abilities :

Attributes :

  • Body type.

Talents :

  • Big guy.

This build is based on the talents of the gnome, which already make him a frontline fighter. By focusing on military affairs and two-handed weapons, you will become a real destroyer, and the increase in necromancy will give you the opportunity to heal your own character. And the last one will be useful to you, because you, like a sponge, will absorb most of the damage in battle.

Your attributes and talents for this build are slightly more flexible than others. If the Beast is your main tank, then physique should be your priority along with increasing the talent “Big Man”. However, if it is a vehicle with high DPS (damage per second, but in this case it is customary to say damage per action point), then strength and other talents should be a priority.
