Packaging and assembly

The Digma 55 DM-LED55UBB33 TV comes in a massive rectangular cardboard box with an unpainted surface. It has handles for easy carrying. The model name and its diagonal are indicated on the back and front, and there is a sticker with the technical characteristics of the device on one of the sides.

The TV is placed inside the package without legs. For protection during transportation, it is packed in a plastic bag and securely fixed with foam dampers. The upper one has compartments for the assembly, so do not forget to take it out before removing the TV.

Along with the TV panel itself, the kit includes two legs and screws for mounting, a remote control and two AAA batteries for its power supply, a warranty card and instructions in Russian, a 1.5 meter power cable.

The manual pleases with excellent information content and accessible style, therefore, if you have no experience using TVs, you will find answers to any questions in it, from assembling the device to using its OS.

Remote controller

The TV remote control is quite typical. It is made of black plastic with a matte finish. There is an IR sensor on the top end, but don’t be upset about it, as the remote control supports Bluetooth connection. On the back is the battery compartment cover. In this case, two AAA power sources are used. There are control keys on the front side. There are two buttons on top that are responsible for turning on/off the power and sound. Between them is a microphone and a status indicator.

Next comes a four-position joystick with a confirmation key in the middle.Just below are the “Back” and “Menu” buttons, and below them are the keys for selecting channels, turning on voice input, and returning to the home screen (the “Home” button). The next pair is selecting a signal source and continuing/stopping playback. The final buttons are responsible for adjusting the sound volume.

Appearance

The appearance of the Digma 55 DM-LED55UBB33 TV is not particularly different from numerous competitors’ devices.

The front side pleases with a complete absence of frames on the sides and top. There is a small panel at the bottom, but it does not cause any particular discomfort. The brand name is printed in the central part, a little to the left is the device status indicator, next to which, to the right, on the bottom of the case, you can find the power button. Out of the box, the display is covered with a protective film, it must be removed before use.

On the bottom of the case, in addition to the power button, there are landing places for the legs. There are two such places for each of them. This allows you to either screw the legs closer to the central part, which is convenient if you have a small cabinet or table, or they can be spread closer to the edges. Each of them is fastened with two screws, there are no openings here, you just need to tighten them with a Phillips screwdriver.

The legs are cast from black metal. Each of them weighs about 300 grams. They are made laconic, do not spoil the appearance of the device. For greater stability, each of them has rubberized pads. After installing the legs, the TV acquires a slight forward tilt of about one degree.

The back side is almost entirely made of a metal panel with vertical and horizontal stiffeners. The bottom of the case is made of plastic and is thicker (about 8 cm). This is due to the fact that inside this part there is a control board in the center and speakers at the edges. For each of them there are slots at the top and bottom, i.e. sound waves spread evenly up and down.

On the outside of the plastic part there is a sticker with technical information about the device. There is also a mount for a VESA 200 x 200 bracket.

On the top of the plastic panel there is a slot for the CAM module, closed with a rubber plug. The power cable is connected on the left side, all other interfaces are located on the right. They are represented by the following set: two USB-A, two antenna inputs, three HDMI, composite connectors, optical output (SPDIF) and RJ-45.

The classic 3.5 mm audio output is not provided, but the problem with connecting headphones is easily solved by the presence of Bluetooth.

Setting

The Digma 55 DM-LED55UBB33 TV runs on YaOS.

When you turn it on for the first time, the brand logo will appear on the screen, followed by a story about the useful functions of the voice assistant.

Next, the TV will ask you to connect to Wi-Fi. The generation of the module is not specified, but the device is able to detect 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, so we can say that at least a Wi-Fi 5 module is installed here.

Please note that you don’t have to connect to the Internet, but in this case the smart functions of the device will be unavailable, i.e. you can only use the TV to watch satellite, cable or digital TV, broadcast content to it from other devices or play it from USB drives.

After connecting to the Internet, the TV will ask you to update the firmware. In my case, it took literally a couple of minutes.

Now all that remains is to log into your Yandex account. You can do this by entering your login and password, or you can scan the QR code on the TV display via Yandex Browser on your phone, provided that you have already logged into your account on the latter.

The next step in setting up is choosing the user: child or parent. If you activate the child mode, you will need to enter a PIN code so that the young user cannot enter the parental control settings. Accordingly, when it is activated, the available content will be moderated so that the child does not have access to adult materials.

At the end of the setup, you will be asked to connect the remote to the TV via Bluetooth. To do this, you need to simultaneously hold down the volume control keys. Once pairing is complete, a corresponding notification will appear on the screen. Now you can use all the functions of the device, including the voice assistant Alice.

Interface

The Digma 55 DM-LED55UBB33 TV runs YaOS. To fully use the system, you will need a Yandex Plus subscription, otherwise the device turns into a regular TV without smart capabilities, i.e. it can be used as a screen for other equipment, watching cable, satellite and digital television or playing media content from external drives.

The system interface has a fairly familiar tile design. At the bottom is a list of the most recently opened applications and content you have viewed. Below that are recommendations from the online cinema “Kinopoisk”.

On the left side there are menu sections:

  • “Search”
  • “Main Page”
  • “TV Channels”
  • “Catalog”
  • “For children”
  • “Music”
  • “Applications”

Accordingly, all sections offer content available within the Kinopoisk cinema. The exceptions are the Music (Yandex Music) and Applications tabs. The latter allows you to install additional software. Please note that this does not provide access to Google Play or other application stores, but contains a specific set of programs adapted for use on a TV.

For the most part, the list includes numerous domestic streaming services and clients of specific TV channels, but among them there was also a place for free cinemas, video players for reading content from flash drives and watching IPTV, as well as VK Video, YouTube, Litres: Listen, Yandex Browser, Yandex Disk, Yandex Games and File Manager.

In my opinion, the set of available software is quite good, but if it seems insufficient to you, and you want to install your favorite program, then nothing prevents you from doing this using APK files from a flash drive. The TV provides such an opportunity.

To access the settings, you need to press the corresponding key on the remote control, after which a menu with available settings will open on the right side. It is presented by the following list:

  • “Network and Internet”
  • “Channel”
  • “Sound”
  • “Image”
  • “Applications”
  • “Device Settings”
  • “Remotes and accessories”

In general, the set of settings is standard and clear, so it does not need special comments. I will only note that the sound settings provide several ready-made presets for different types of content. Ready-made color modes are also in the “Image” section. If you do not like them, the device provides manual color rendering adjustment. In the “Remotes and Accessories” tab, additional devices are connected via Bluetooth, for example, a mouse, keyboard or gamepad can be connected to the TV.

The Device Settings section contains an additional directory where you can get information about the TV and get help on how to use it, set a timer, change the date, time, language and keyboard for entering queries, and view the contents in memory, set up parental controls and interface operation, reset the TV settings to factory defaults and activate special features.

Impressions of use

The image quality is beyond reproach. Of course, this is not a QLED or OLED TV, but the picture pleases with high brightness, pleasant color rendering and wide viewing angles. There are no glare spots at the edges of the screen on a dark background, which I consider a plus, and I was unable to find any dead pixels. The HDR support is also pleasing, and its operation can be easily tested on YouTube by playing content with its support.

With a diagonal of 55 inches, the model is capable of playing 4K content and copes with it without complaints, even when connected via Wi-Fi. And in general, online viewing of content from different sources did not cause problems. If for some reason the air connection turns out to be slow, the device also supports connection to the Internet via a LAN cable.

A large number of connectors allows you to connect the TV to several signal sources, and switching between them is very easy using the remote control.

In particular, the Digma 55 DM-LED55UBB33 TV can be used as a screen for gaming consoles or PCs. Objectively, the model is not the most suitable for games, since its response is 6.5 ms, and the refresh rate is 60 Hz, but if you are not a hardcore gamer and only occasionally while away the time in games, then this TV will be enough for you.

There were no issues with playing content from USB drives either. The device easily detected a 500 GB external drive powered by USB and recognized a larger 2 TB drive with a network power supply. I was unable to detect any unsupported formats. This suggests that the TV is quite omnivorous. The only thing I didn’t like was the built-in video player, but I solved this problem by installing the popular VLC player, which was already on the list of software available for download.

The device’s audio is handled by a pair of 10-watt speakers. The quality is surprisingly good. TVs usually don’t have much to brag about in this regard, but in the case of our model, the audio is loud, clear, and good enough that I didn’t feel like using external speakers.

Among other advantages, I would like to note the comfortable YaOS with a beautiful and clear interface, as well as quite a wide functionality, which allows not only to watch video content, but also to listen to music or e-books, go online through a browser, and also play. Of course, “Yandex Games” contain very simple titles, but if you have children, they will definitely appreciate them. I am also pleased with the fast operation of the TV in general, I did not find any delays, lags or failures during a month of use.

Conclusion

The price of Digma 55 DM-LED55UBB33 is 31,000 rubles. For this money, the model offers a large and high-quality display with 4K resolution and HDR support, which is capable of reproducing a bright and beautiful picture. In addition, the device pleases with a pleasant appearance, high-quality assembly, convenient YaOS, fast operation, a large number of interfaces and high-quality sound.Given the absence of any downsides, Digma 55 DM-LED55UBB33 is a very interesting option that makes sense to consider for purchase for those who are looking for a large and high-quality TV with good functionality and do not want to spend a lot of money on its purchase.
