One of the best video game subscription services, Xbox Game Pass, has made changes to its modalities and now offers a total of 4 different subscription versions. With prices ranging from 6.99 euros to 17.99 euros, choosing the right version could give you serious headaches, so we are going to leave you with the differences and similarities so that you can quickly clear up any doubts.

What does Xbox Game Pass Standard offer?

The new mode is not available in Spain, but it will be in the coming months. Those users who are part of the Xbox Insider program will be able to try it out right now, although we shouldn’t wait too long until it is officially available. Called Xbox Game Pass Standard, this subscription mode costs 12.99 euros , will be available for consoles and will offer access to the large catalog of direct download games.

The only problem with this mode is that the possibility of playing the games on day 1 of launch disappears, so titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 or Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will not be playable until some time has passed since their launch.

How long does it take for a new game to be available on Game Pass Standard?

That’s probably the most common question users ask, and luckily there’s an answer, although perhaps not the one you were hoping for. According to Microsoft itself, newly released games will take at least 12 months to be available to Game Pass Standard users, meaning they won’t be able to play the games until a year later.

Differences between Game Pass Core and Game Pass Standard.

The differences between Xbox Game Pass Core and Game Pass Standard can be summed up in the number of games available in the online catalogue. In Game Pass Core you only have access to 25 selected games , while in Game Pass Standard the entire catalogue is opened, matching the offer of the higher-end subscriptions (with the exception of Day 1 games as we have already mentioned). However, neither of the two includes EA Play or cloud gaming .

This difference in the number of games puts the price of the Core mode at just 6.99 euros per month, making it the cheapest option available today.

Do users lose out with the Standard subscription?

While the Standard subscription seems to be quite attractive at first glance, the loss of Day 1 releases is quite painful, even more so when until now they were being offered in the simple Game Pass option for consoles. This forces all those console users who want to enjoy new releases immediately to subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate, which costs 17.99 euros.

On the other hand, the basic Game Pass subscription for PC does include Day 1 and EA Play releases, and the price is 11.99 euros.
