The degree is a classification system that exists in Dead by Daylight to offer rewards to players with each new season qualifying. These were previously called ranks and used for matchmaking, but today that has changed in Behavior Interactive’s horror title.

In case you have doubts, below we have prepared this entry of our guide in which we explain how the Degrees work, how to increase their classes by earning points and what are the rewards that you can earn through this system.

What are Degrees and how to upgrade them from class?

All Dead by Daylight players are associated with a grade that is independent for the killers side and the survivors side . This means that the entire group of killer characters share the same grade, but this does not affect the grade of surviving characters, and vice versa .

Players can obtain a grade depending on the performance we have achieved when playing a public game (custom ones are not taken into account for this system). The degrees are divided into a total of 5 levels or qualities and within each of them we find up to 4 classes :

  • Ash Grade:with Ash IV, Ash III, Ash II and Ash I levels.
  • Bronze Grade:with Bronze IV, Bronze III, Bronze II and Bronze I levels.
  • Silver Grade:with Silver IV, Silver III, Silver II and Silver I levels.
  • Gold Grade:with Gold IV, Gold III, Gold II and Gold I levels.
  • Iridescent Grade:with Iridescent IV, Iridescent III, Iridescent II and Iridescent I levels.

Importantly, grades are simply a feature to show a player’s progress within a season. These have nothing to do with the hidden matchmaking index (MMR), so the grade is not taken into account during matchmaking of games.

Earn points to move up the Grades

The grades are related to the ranked seasons of Dead by Daylight and therefore these are reset on the 13th of each month (the seasons last one month in total). In each new season, all players start at Ash IV grade , the lowest level of all, and depending on the points obtained in the games, the grade will increase.

When the highest class of a grade is reached , for example Ash Grade I, to the next level you will go up to the continuing grade (in this case Bronze Grade IV), and so on.

Points for Degrees can be earned, lost, or kept based on your performance in ranked matches and based on the emblems and emblem points you earn:

  • Bronze Emblem:Gain 1 emblem point.
  • Silver Emblem: Youget 2 emblem points.
  • Gold Emblem: Youget 3 emblem points.
  • Iridescent Emblem:Gain 4 emblem points.

Each grade has a set amount of progress (which is shown below its icon) and filling in all of these spaces will increase your ranking by a number. Below you can see a table with the grade points earned in each class based on the emblem points earned:
