Darksiders: Genesis: How to open the Trickster’s door in the Abyss

During the passage of Darksiders: Genesis, you will return to the Abyss again and again. And in fact, this place hides a huge number of secrets. And the most important secret of the game is the way to reach the series regular – Evil Killington. To get to him, you will have to open ALL the Trickster Gates that you will find in the story chapters.

There are a total of 16 chapters in the game (and a 17th as an epilogue). But the Trickster’s Gate is only in 11 of them. Neither the Gate nor the Trickster’s Keys are in the chapters that are entirely dedicated to a boss fight. Below we will tell you where to find some keys, how to get to the most difficult Trickster’s Gates, and so on.

The Keys of the Trickster

Let’s clarify the following right away: you can buy six Trickster keys from Vulgrim. But they will not be available right away. Initially, you can take two keys, a little later, after the sixth chapter, you will be able to buy a couple more, and the next one – after the ninth. The remaining keys are located in locations. When you find a treasure map, markers for all collectibles appear. However, getting a key is not always easy. I will not describe each key, but only those that are not so easy to obtain!

1. When you go down the steps after the explosion of the growth (at the beginning of the second chapter), use the ghost hook to fly onto the ledge on the right.

2. Two more Trickster Keys in Chapter 2 can only be obtained after you have the Crushing Glove. In one case, at the beginning of the chapter, you need to jump onto the ledge on the right, hitting the plate with the red rune with the glove. In the second case, you need to destroy the red crystals at the very end.

3. The key from the third chapter is easy to get. But in the fourth, everything is not so clear. From the beginning of the level, go to the right. You will find a ledge with a growth. Throw a bomb on it. Then throw a couple more bombs to the left, creating a chain. Now, with the shearing sword of War, set fire to one bowl from another, and then to the bomb.

4. To get another key of the fourth chapter, you need to create two portals and jump from one to the other. The character will fly higher and higher, and soon will reach the key.

5. The key in the fifth chapter, inside Mammon’s dungeon, is hidden near the treasury with the location map. There is a closed door on the left, and a little lower – a slope. Climb it and you will see a crystal. Hold E and throw the cutting sword of War. You need to hold it down to charge the sword. In this case, the throwing blade will activate the crystal for a longer time. Another Trickster key in the dungeon is much easier to pick up.

6. When the Arena becomes available, complete a more difficult level to get at least 3500 points. For this, you can get a key as a reward.

7. In the seventh chapter, the closest key can only be taken if you have the crushing glove. You will receive the second key in this chapter according to the story. When you return back from the chest in which the glove was.

8. To get the two keys from Chapter 8, you just need to break the crystals using the Crushing Glove.

9. At the beginning of Chapter 11, go forward to the stream, turn around and find two crystals on the left. Throw the War’s shearing sword, but you need to hold down the E key.

10. In Chapter 12, the keys are harder to find. The first one is near the waterfall threshold at the gate with three seals. Just jump on the mountains ahead using the ghost hook. The second key is near the Tide Shaman. After climbing up, use the Ethereal Spark. Point it at one hole, climb up and point the spark at the second one to climb up to the key.

11. To get the first key in Chapter 14. You need to ride the platform with the button on the left side of the location. You will pass by islands on high pillars. There will be a key on one of them. Take the second key after destroying the boss of the location. Just do not rush to return to the Abyss.

Where are all the Trickster Gates located?

Again, many of these doors are easy to find. They will be highlighted as soon as you find the treasure map. I will point out the locations of the more difficult ones.

Well hidden from view is the Trickster’s Gate in Chapter 8. Get almost to the end of the level. In the place where you need to throw a shearing sword at two crystals to raise a platform from the pit with acid, go first to the right. When you see the destroyed gate, jump into the pipe to the right. This is a drain leading to a secret part of the location.

In Chapter 11, at the beginning of the location, move forward to the stream and turn to the waterfall on the left. Go behind the waterfall to find the doors.

When you lower the final bridge to head to the boss in Chapter 15, don’t rush forward. Look down at the bottom of the area and you’ll find that you can jump down.

However, the most difficult door is hidden in the Abyss. We are not talking about the door that is located to the left of Vulgrim. From the teleporter in the Abyss, fly to the right on the air current. Position yourself so that you can throw the Vortex Sword through the burning torch to the left of the wall. It should reflect off another wall and fly into the unburned torch behind the neighboring partition. Next, you will need to destroy red crystals and complete several mini-games with the Aether Spark. But this path will lead you to the right door. And to open it, you also need a record number of Trickster’s Keys – as many as six pieces!

Once you’ve opened all 12 doors, you’ll be able to open the door to the left of Vulgrim. Behind it, you’ll find the game’s secret boss, Evil Killington.
