Sometimes your followers may get sick and become incapacitated. If you want to get them back on track as soon as possible, this guide is for you.
Causes of diseases
You can tell that a follower is sick by the notification from the game. If you suddenly missed it, you can determine the disease externally. A corresponding icon appears above the patient’s head and in the center of the screen, and the cultist looks completely unwell – his face takes on a green tint. When stupor, the follower walks with bulging eyes, while when desecrated, the eyes turn black and the pupils turn purple.
Followers can get sick for various reasons. Most often, it is due to unsanitary conditions in the settlement – it is important to promptly remove excrement and other waste products of the cultists, clean the toilet and not allow the bodies of deceased wards to lie in the middle of the settlement and decompose. In addition, do not leave food on the ground for a long time – it spoils and also lowers the level of hygiene.
Sometimes, your subjects may ask you to accept new members who are already suffering from illnesses into the cult. And sometimes, bishops may curse followers.
Another reason for illness is that the follower has tasted cooking with the corresponding effect. Carefully read the properties of each dish before feeding it to your cultists! Foods and drinks that cause illness include:
- Withered Herb Salad – Causes disease with a 25% chance (if you do not have the Vegetarianism commandment unlocked)
- Liquid Pumpkin Soup – Causes disease with a 5% chance
- Nourishing Kale Salad – Causes illness with a 5% chance
- Fragrant Fish Jellied – Causes illness with a 10% chance
- Fried Follower’s Meat – Causes disease with 75% chance (if you do not have the Cannibalism commandment open)
- Bowl of excrement – causes disease with a 50% chance
- Dung Juice – Causes disease with a 75% chance
If you want to perform the Brainwashing ritual and you have the “Sobriety of Mind” precept at the fourth level of the Sustenance doctrine, be prepared for the fact that almost all of your followers will get sick after this ritual with a probability of 50%. Make sure you have enough resources for healing.
In addition to simple diseases, a follower can be injured in a fight with another cultist. Additionally, resurrected followers can become corrupted or stupor.
Bed rest
If a cultist is injured or simply sick, you can assign him bed rest. To do this, go to him and, interacting with him, click “Send to be treated.” He will go to rest in his sleeping place and will not work for several game days. As soon as he is on the mend, the game will notify you about it. This is not the fastest way.
Healing food
You can cook the “Gourmet Fish Platter” and feed it to a sick follower. To cook it, you will need: squid , octopus, pufferfish, swordfish. To give the dish to a specific follower, when interacting with him, press “Talk – Eat” and select the fish platter from the radial menu. Make sure that the rest of the cult is well-fed and no one will lay claim to the healing cooking. The catch with this method is that the probability of healing is not that high – only 30%, and the ingredients for it are rare. This is a rather expensive and unreliable method.
The hospital
The most reliable method, which also allows you to cure not only illness and wounds, but also desecration and stupor, is the Healer. This building opens at settlement level 2 and requires 20 gold coins, 10 camellias, and 5 wooden planks to build it. An improved version will become available at settlement level 4. It is built on top of the regular Healer and requires 10 gold bars, 10 camellias, and 5 planks.
For treatment, you will need various resources. Simple diseases and wounds are treated only with camellias – in a regular Clinic, you will have to spend 15 flowers per patient, and in an improved one – 10.
To heal a cultist, go to the Infirmary and interact with it to select the patient. The game itself will bring the followers who need healing to the top of the list and prescribe the cost. If you have enough resources, your ward will be instantly healed, continue to live their normal life and work.
