Childhood obesity is a threat and parents are to blame

It is not about looking for culprits or pointing the finger, but you do have to give a touch of attention because this begins to get out of hand in many cases. Although it is true that in some cases it is possible that children are overweight or obese due to medical conditions and that parents have nothing to do with it … in the vast majority of cases it is not.

No parent wants their children sick

Childhood obesity occurs more in developing countries, but it is a problem that affects the world. It is so serious that it can cause many health problems; Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, asthma, joint pain, sleep disorders, you are more likely to die earlier when you reach adulthood, it affects very negatively on an emotional level, among other things. Being fat is often synonymous with being sick, or being so in a short time.

No parent wants their children to be overweight or obese, but most children get fat because of their parents! They don’t (or shouldn’t) choose what they eat. If you have a child who is fat, stop looking elsewhere because you are the main responsible.

You do not have to get defensive or get angry, you just have to accept this fact and then look for the appropriate remedies to end this problem from today. You may have unconsciously made your child fat.

Being a bad example

We all know that you are the best for your children, for this reason they watch every move you make and admire everything about you. If you are an overweight parent and you can’t help it, what you tell your children is that it is okay to be fat. Children also look at the things you do and DO NOT do and will try to imitate you in everything.

If you’re a person who exercises but also eats junk food, your kids will likely follow suit, too. But this lifestyle will lead to fat accumulation and future health problems as well.

You are too busy to cook well

The world we live in turns too fast and if you are not careful, activities as important as healthy cooking you will think that it wastes your time. But it is not wasting time, it is investing in health and quality of life. Do you usually order a pizza because it seems more comfortable than cooking?

All fast foods, even if they are sold to you as ‘healthy’ (with marketing as aggressive as usual) are actually junk food and therefore unhealthy. If you raise your children eating junk food for laziness to cook, then… guess what they will eat in the future? Pizza, pasta, chips, ice cream … with dire consequences for your health.

Having television as a babysitter

If you condemn your children to watching TV or playing video games because you are ‘too busy’ to be with them, they will most likely develop health problems and being overweight in the future. Television is bad for many reasons. For starters, more TV time encourages a sedentary lifestyle, which directly reduces the amount of time spent in physical activities. In addition, watching television for long periods of time encourages the habit of eating unhealthy foods that increases obesity.

Giving unhealthy food as a reward for good behavior

When you promise to give your child ice cream as a reward for eating his vegetables, he immediately gets a lesson: ice cream is great, and vegetables are only a means to an end. As your child continues to live with this idea, the love of junk food grows and this ultimately leads to excessive fat accumulation and a poor lifestyle.
