Find out all the latest information about Blue Protocol in this comprehensive article that covers all the key details about the game.
At the end of August, the Chinese giant Tencent launched the second closed beta testing of a new project in its home country with the temporary name “Codename: Star”, which is essentially a special version of the already closed Japanese MMORPG Blue Protocol . Over the past few days, the foreign fan community Blue Protocol Database has carefully studied the vastness of Chinese platforms and collected quite a lot of details about the game. In fact, in this article I have translated this information and, as best I could, systematized it into sections. As new information comes out, I will most likely update the material.
Miscellaneous
- Codename: Star positions itself as a multi-platform MMORPG and will be available on mobile devices and PC.
- It is being developed on the Unity engine, unlike the original (on the Unreal Engine).
- The recommended PC requirements are exactly the same as the Japanese version (RTX 2070), indicating that the graphics and visual effects will be no worse than the Japanese version.
- There is support for ultra-wide monitors.
- You can switch between mobile and PC control layouts.
- The overall style is similar to the Japanese version, but the models have been changed and now look similar to characters from other cross-platform games such as Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact.
- The combat seems to be faster, like in popular mobile games with action combat.
- Dodging has standard character invulnerability windows, or, in other words, I-frames. There is a perfect dodging, which is accompanied by a special animation.
- Compared to the Japanese version, the combat interface has become better and less cluttered with debuff icons.
- Auto-aim and one-click combo can be turned on and off.
- The soundtrack has been partially changed, there are some melodies from the Japanese version.
- You can only create 1 character per account.
- There is a “Language” item in the settings.
- There is a selfie option in camera mode.
- The overall customization and costumes look better than the Japanese version.
- Gacha is costume-oriented:
- There is a system that allows you to get a guaranteed suit after 100 spins, or, in other words, pity.
- There are four different rarities of rewards, the highest rarity contains costumes.
- A little bit about costumes
- You can preview the selected costume.
- Can be colored using the color wheel. It can be customized using hex codes.
- Some tasks reward cosmetic items.
World
- When you move between zones, you will not see a loading screen. It only appears if you move to another map / to a city.
- Asterlis (the main town) has been reworked and feels more alive with more NPCs and tighter placement of key points.
- There are many puzzles in the world that use jumping, parkour, gliding (flight). There are also tasks with a quiz system.
- There are chests that can be opened by completing mini-events similar to those in Genshin Impact.
- You can run on walls (you can climb walls and mountains).
- You can fish.
- Items dropped by monsters, as well as materials from gathering and fishing, can be used to cook food, which requires energy.
- Energy is restored over time.
- Energy potions can be purchased at the guild store.
- Energy potions are awarded for certain Battle Pass levels.
- Food provides non-stacking buffs or healing effects.
Classes
- There are several classes similar to the Japanese version, as well as new ones, such as a class with a katana and a separate healer class with elemental rings as a weapon. The video below shows examples of classes.
- Heal resembles the Japanese Beat Performer class, but without the boost mechanic, and the visuals are similar to the character Naheed from Genshin Impact.
- Even similar classes have completely different skills. For example, the archer class seems to use a pet to help them in combat.
- Weapons that are expected to be available include the Kamaitachi, Staff, Tomahawk, Long Gun, Elemental Rings, Hand Cannon, and Sword and Shield.
- Each class has a specific elemental element associated with it, which may indicate that the elemental system will be less complex than the Japanese version.
- With the addition of the healer, it looks like the Chinese version’s class system will be more focused on the standard trinity scheme – tank, DD, healer.
rogress
- Individual abilities can be improved.
- Improving abilities is guaranteed and without randomness, the main thing is that you have the necessary materials.
- Certain materials are obtained by dismantling equipment.
- Certain materials can be purchased in the donation shop (alas and ah).
- There is a talent tree with passives, separate from the ability system.
- The talent tree can branch out. Simply put, the same class can have different builds of talents and abilities.
- There are abilities for jumping and gliding, with their own skill tree.
- There are 3 fixed skills (maybe class/specialization dependent?), 3 flexible ability slots (can take any ability from the class tree) and 2 B-imagine slots.
Equipment
- The equipment consists of 11 elements – a weapon, 4 pieces of armor, a ring, an earring, a necklace, a talisman and 2 bracelets.
- The E-imagine equipment item has been removed from the game.
- Armor and weapons cannot be crafted, they are dropped or given as a reward. For example, weapons can only be obtained from dungeons and are not available in the donation shop.
- Equipment can be upgraded using duplicates. The system does not appear to be random and works similarly to the quality scale in Lost Ark. Higher quality gives better stats.
- You can equip an item similar to the Fetranian Stones from Lost Ark. Depending on the rarity, it can have up to 2 positive nodes and 1 negative node. You try to gain points in the positive nodes, and when you achieve a certain number of successes in these nodes, you unlock additional passive effects.
Content
- Group Wanted ads can be posted in the same way as in the Japanese version.
- There is a 4-player obstacle racing mode – 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1.
- Apparently, there is content that provides a special currency – GC and medals, which can be exchanged for costumes and other things.
- Each class has its own challenges depending on the role assigned to them – tank \ DD \ healer. These seem to be solo challenges, a la the adventure rank increase from the Japanese version.
- There are 20-player raids, but you’ll need at least 12 players to run them.
- As a reward for killing the location boss, you will receive materials to improve your abilities and talents.
- Location bosses have a contribution scale tied to them, similar to a DPS meter. Rewards are distributed based on contribution.
Dungeons
- Dungeons have a daily entry limit.
- Dungeons have different difficulty levels. There is definitely an “Extreme” difficulty, which adds additional negative modifiers.
- Standard difficulty dungeons can be completed solo/with multiple players, while higher difficulty levels require at least three players.
- There are additional tasks that need to be completed to receive additional rewards.
- There is additional loot, for which each player rolls a die. The winner gets the loot (not fully confirmed).
- Bosses have a full attack pattern. Before casting some special attacks, you will see a timer before the attack.
- To make combat easier, some attack patterns have a visual cue.
- Bosses have something similar to an elemental/stun bar.
Systems
- There is a book with guides for beginners \ leveling up. Helps with development and gives out resources at certain stages.
- There is an achievement system, it partially replaces the adventure boards from the Japanese version. For some achievements you get unique costumes.
- Unlocking an additional class requires an item from the real-money store. But once you use that item and complete the quest to unlock the new class, you can freely switch between the classes you’ve already unlocked.
- When switching between classes, the character’s level remains the same, but the class’s skill level will have to be upgraded again.
Auction
- The following items can be traded at the auction: weapons, equipment, crafting materials, upgrade materials, clothing.
- Luno is the main in-game currency for trading. It can be exchanged for bound pink orbs placed by other players.
- Each player has an Adventure ID card, similar to the player cards from the Japanese version.
Guild
New content has been added to the guild system, and guilds now have their own personal base with the following features:
- There is an NPC for gaining reputation. Gives out materials for improvements and other things. Reputation increases when donating materials.
- Training dummies.
- Fountain of Blessings, grants buffs to guild members. It is not yet known whether this is a global buff or a personal one that must be refreshed manually.
- Weekly guild activities.
- Kitchen for cooking.
- Guild shops.
- General warehouse.
- You can customize your guild emblem.
- The large picture frames available can be used to place screenshots.
