What bird helps to prevent the timber of trees being eaten by insects ?

The woodpecker has a strong beak with which it can bore its way through the bark of trees until it comes to
the place where grubs and harmful insects are found. It appears to tap on the bark and to tell by the sound where
these are to be found. After exposing the grubs it thrusts out its long tongue and seizes them before they
can escape.
