Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Open the Rustic Swamp Gate?

Learn how to open the rustic swamp gate in Baldur’s Gate 3 with this step-by-step guide. Don’t get stuck – follow our tips and progress in the game!

By completing various quests in Baldur’s Gate 3, you’re likely to end up visiting the swamp and the rustic teahouse where the mysterious Tita Ethel resides , a woman who has Mayrina locked away somewhere. With a little investigation and perception, you’ll find a staircase behind the teahouse’s fireplace that leads to a hidden tunnel , a cavern that will soon be blocked by a huge rustic door that is locked tight.

If you have reached this entry of our guide , it is probably because you no longer know what else to do to open this damned door . In reality, the solution is much easier than it might seem and we are going to reveal it to you right here so that you can move forward and save Mayrina.

What to do to open a blocked rustic door?

The locked rustic door found in the hidden passage inside the rustic tea shop is in the entrance gallery and no, it cannot be opened by picking the lock with burglar tools like you would any other normal door.

Don’t worry, there is still a way to open it. At this point you can interact with the door by clicking on it, which will lead to several dialogue options, including two Intimidation or Persuasion skill checks.

However, you don’t even need to “talk” to the door.

The solution is as simple as walking straight through the door . This door doesn’t really exist, it’s just an illusion , as you can see in the following screenshots:

  • To go through the door hold left click and have your characters walk to the other side of the door.
  • When you go through the door you will see that it becomes transparent for a few moments.
  • This way you can cross to the other side without any major problems with all your characters.

By talking to the door and having a high enough arcane attribute, you can see a cutscene in which Aunt Ethel walks through the door, thus proving that it is an illusion. But, in reality, you don’t need to see this cutscene to go through it yourself as we have explained. You can simply walk through it, plain and simple.

Another way to “undo” the illusion of this door is by equipping yourself with a whispering mask , but this is not recommended because the character who does so will become a pawn in the hands of Aunt Ethel , becoming hostile to the rest of the companions. So now you know, you just have to walk towards the door and mystery solved.
