App to locate parked car

Let’s start this discussion by talking about some apps to locate parked cars , which allow you to memorize the position where the car was parked (some do it automatically) and then allow you to find it using the previously activated location services.

Google Maps (Android/iOS/iPadOS)

If you want to locate a parked car why don’t you turn to Google Maps ? You may not know it, but the well-known maps app developed by the Mountain View giant (also available as a Web service ) also integrates a function that allows you to find your parked car. How is it used? Just save the parking position in advance and then it will be possible to find the vehicle in an extremely simple way: now I’ll explain how to do it.

To proceed, start Google Maps on your Android or iOS / iPadOS device and, if you have not already done so, log in to your Google account making sure that the location services are active . Subsequently, once the car is parked, tap on the blue dot that indicates the position in which you are. Then, in the menu that opens, press the Save parking button .

Now the most is done. To find the parking position you have saved, you simply have to search for it: on Android , tap the search bar located at the top of the screen and select the Parking position item in the menu that is shown to you; on iOS / iPadOS , on the other hand, press the Go button which is located at the bottom and then select the item relating to the saved parking from the opened menu. Easier than that ?!

Mappe (iOS/iPadOS)

Maps , the Apple maps app installed by default on iOS / iPadOS and macOS, integrates a very useful function that allows you to find your parked car. Unlike what happens on Google Maps, however, it is not necessary to manually save the parking position: the app does everything automatically.

Clearly, there must be localization services active ). To be precise, you need to go to the Settings> Privacy and security> Location menu and, if necessary, move the lever located under the Location item to ON . In addition, in the section dedicated to apps, click on the Maps item and put the check mark on the option While using the app , also making sure that you have activated the Exact location function .

Now, in the Location screen , tap on the System Services item located at the bottom of it. Once this is done, click on the Frequent Places item at the bottom and, if you are asked to do so, authenticate using Face ID or Touch ID (depending on the device in your possession). Then, move the switch located next to the Frequent places item to ON (provided that this option is not already active) and, in conclusion, go to Settings> Maps to move to ON , if necessary, the lever placed in correspondence of the Show parking position item.

Mission accomplished! Starting from this moment, your iPhone or iPad will automatically memorize the position in which the car is parked, as long as the device is connected to the car via Bluetooth or CarPlay .

Wondering how you can later locate the parked car? It’s very simple: just open the Maps app , tap on the search field at the top, select the item Parked car from the menu that contains the search suggestions and then press the Directions item . By doing so, you will get the necessary information to reach the car park where the car is located. Easy, right?

ParKing (Android/iOS/iPadOS)

Another app you can use to locate a parked car is ParKing : it is a solution for Android devices (if your device does not have Google services, look for it in the alternative stores ) and iOS / iPadOS , which allows you to save the position in which the car is parked and to find it easily. This is another free solution and therefore the development is supported by the presence of advertising banners. To remove them, you can buy the paid version: the cost is € 6.99 , one-time.

to use it, after installing and starting ParKing on your device, grant it all the necessary permissions to work correctly and, once you have parked your car, save the parking position: to do so, first tap the (+) button with the car and then on the  symbol (bottom right).

Furthermore, if your device is connected to the car via Bluetooth , know that you can also take advantage of the Automatic parking function , which automatically stores the parking position. To activate the latter, first tap the button () located at the top left, select the item Automatic parking in the side menu and move the switch lever next to the word Off to ON .

Finally, to find the parked car, all you have to do is press on the car symbol with the viewfinder located on the map. By doing so, the exact location of the vehicle will be shown on the map and you can reach it.
