Why do some animals have eyes in the front and others have on the sides?

The most complex and most efficient eyes belong to birds and mammals. They are able to adjust the vision according to the light and sharpness conditions.

The birds that practice great flights are experts on the subject. They have large eyes, often larger than the brain, located in front of the face. The hawk, for example, is able to see objects more clearly than humans. This happens both with long distances, and with things very close.

When the eyes are located in the front, they form a unique image in the brain, which gives a binocular field of view. Owls are like that. This makes hunting easier at night, as their eyes may even turn into orbit making it easier to find prey.

However, a disadvantage of these animals with frontal eyes is that they are an easier target for other predators precisely because they do not have lateral vision, like other animals that we will know now.

Animals with side eyes

Most fish have monocular vision, meaning that each eye sees something different. So, in some cases, each turns to one side to locate food and predators. These animals have evolved over the millennia to adapt to the darkness of the sea depths.

Another animal that is famous for this characteristic is the chameleon. Not only does he have eyes on the sides, but he has the ability to move them to different areas, this helps him to escape from predators frequently, to hunt and mate.
