Dragon Ball Z: The Breakers is a 1v7 asymmetrical survival game. A group of survivors have to dodge an assailant, find some power keys, activate Trunks’ time ship and escape before he destroys everything. To achieve this, we can use objects, vehicles, power-ups, and also some energy spheres that give us the powers of Son Goku, Vegeta, and other manga and anime characters.
That is to say, Dimps and Bandai Namco have wanted to mark a Dead by Deadlight ; But it hasn’t turned out particularly well. And it’s not that the Dragon Ball Z universe doesn’t have the potential to make a good title in this genre. The most mythical moments of the license occur trying to survive Cell, Buu or Frieza. The entire Namek arc is a Dead by Deadlight trying not to die at the hands of the space tyrant’s orders. But the game has several problems that prevent it from standing out.
The Breakers is a title that seems made without too much love
Dragon Ball Z: The Breakers is a title that seems to have been made without too much love. It reuses a lot of, if not all, material from Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 . So much so that the very introduction of the game invites you to buy it, so it is technically very out of date. The textures are poor and so are the characters we create through the editor. The animations follow the same path and the same goes for the design of objects and scenarios. There are also no more game modes than an introduction, a training area and online matches. More content is expected to arrive as the seasons progress, but as of today, the offer is very fair.
Once we reach the game HUB, it’s time to find a game. I’ve been playing this weekend’s title since Friday, and I’ve had to wait up to 10 minutes to find a match . It is true that some found them in two, but the normal was between four and eight. There are three available scenarios separated into sectors. Each player has to find the key for each of them and the place to put it. When they are all, a time ship will appear in which we will have to get on to escape.
Dragon Ball Z: The Breakers no me ha convencido
Meanwhile, Cell, Buu or Frieza, will be killing survivors and growing in power, they will be able to kill these sectors and they will have to prevent us from fleeing. The options on the part of the survivors are the usual ones in these games. We have attack objects to stun the enemy, power-ups and vehicles to move better. The highlight is that if we collect enough transformation spheres we can become a warrior of our choice and stop the assailant momentarily .
At this time, the control scheme changes and becomes similar to that of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. We can do quick dodges, throw energy balls and do a special attack. From the menu we can configure who we become at this point and what shots can be performed . The rest of the time we are humans without any kind of power. We can only run, use objects, open chests, climb, jump and hide.
The scenarios are wide, and we will spend a lot of time running alone without taking advantage of them
The problem is that by having such a poor technical section, such rough animations and such a weak presentation, the games take place without tension . The scenarios are very wide, and we will spend a lot of time running alone without taking full advantage of it. What is fun is that, as we play, we will get different game currencies to buy clothes, accessories and new abilities. In this way we will gradually perfect our character.
It should have been free or a mode within Xenoverse 2
A normal game in Dragon Ball Z: The Breakers lasts between 10 and 15 minutes; maybe a little more or less time depending on your partners. And I have to admit that I did not find compelling reasons other than to do this analysis to continue playing. It has fun things, I like that there are dragon balls to find to make a wish, playing as a raider is cool and also the transformation into Son Goku to help my team escape, but it’s not enough . All the hours I spent playing it I thought that this should be another mode of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, not a separate game. So this would make sense.
Dragon Ball Z: The Breakers lacks a lot of technical muscle, games with a better rhythm, drastically lowering the waiting times, better balancing the power of the villains and offering more graceful scenarios and optimizing its character editor, controls and animations. The best thing about the game is being Cell and growing from a pupa to a perfect Cell while devouring players and survivors, or being Buu and putting your victims inside your body.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will add two more characters from the movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero
It’s also funny to stand up to the assailant by transforming you for a few moments , but that is not able to compensate for a sin that the game commits that seems inexcusable to me: I love Dragon Ball Z but I got bored of this proposal after four games. Anyway, I’ll keep track of the title. With these games, you know how it starts but not how it ends. With support from the community, it may end up becoming a good game.
lazy and outdated
Dragon Ball: The Breakers
By: Adrian Suarez
Dragon Ball Z: The Breakers is a bit of a disappointment. There was potential to do something fun, and ideas within the manga itself. However, the easy way has been taken to make a video game that is not recommended. The gameplay, matchmaking, waiting times and level design, among many other things, need to be greatly improved to make you want to enjoy it.
