We present a complete analysis of the all-terrain router AVM FRITZ! Box 7530 AX AX2400 , a router very similar to the FRITZ! Box 7530 model that we have previously analyzed in RedesZone, but incorporating the latest WiFi 6 standard, to achieve coverage and speed over WiFi Excellent. This model belongs to the medium-high range of home routers, in addition, it is a fairly inexpensive device if we take into account its hardware and real benefits. Today in RedesZone we are going to thoroughly analyze this new high-performance router from the German manufacturer AVM.
Technical characteristics of this WiFi router
This new WiFi router is a team that can be included in the mid-high range of routers, therefore, it is ideal for home environments where we have an Internet connection of approximately 600Mbps, because we will be able to make the most of our connection without problems. This model differs from the FRITZ! Box 7530 model in two aspects, the first of which is the WiFi, this new model has WiFi 6 and is class AX2400, instead of WiFi 5 and class AC1300, therefore, this new model is clearly better than the old one. The second differential aspect is the USB port, this new model has USB 2.0 instead of the USB 3.0 port that the previous FRITZ! Box 7530 model incorporated, so we must take this into account.

The main wireless characteristics of this new router is that it has simultaneous dual band with WiFi 6 and AX2400 class . In the 2.4GHz band we can achieve a speed of up to 574Mbps speed, thanks to the fact that it has two internal antennas in MU-MIMO 2T2R configuration, at 40MHz of channel width and the WiFi 6 standard. In the 5GHz band we can achieve a speed of 1,801Mbps, thanks to the fact that it has three internal antennas in MU-MIMO 3T3R configuration, at 80MHz channel width and WiFi 6. This model does not have support for 160MHz channel width, it is something that we must take into account.
The FRITZ! Box 7530 AX has all the WiFi 6 technologies to have the best possible user experience, such as Beamforming to focus the wireless signal on the clients and achieve a little more coverage, we also have the MU-MIMO in the two frequency bands to transmit data to several WiFi clients simultaneously, and save time in the air, in addition, we also have the fundamental characteristic of WiFi 6, OFDMA , which will allow us to optimize the wireless network globally when we connect a large amount of compatible wireless clients.
This router has the possibility of configuring Smart Connect with band-steering , we also have the possibility of creating a WiFi Mesh network with WiFi roaming using the 802.11k / v standards, and we can even create a guest WiFi network completely separate from the network WiFi and main wired. This model has a physical button to turn the WiFi wireless network on and off, without having to go into the firmware, and we even have a button for the WPS. The WPS works only through the button to increase security, in addition, this button will allow us to add other FRITZ! Mesh devices to have a complete meshed WiFi network.
Regarding security, this router supports WPA2 / WPA3-Personal , therefore, we have the latest security protocol for the WiFi wireless network.
Wired and USB Features
This FRITZ! Box 730 AX router has an xDSL port to connect it to ADSL2 + and VDSL2 networks, thanks to its built-in modem, we can use this router for our copper connection. Of course, we have all the typical configuration options to be compatible, such as PPPoE, by DHCP and we can even configure the VLAN ID if our operator needs it.
This router can also work as a neutral router , if we configure it in the firmware, the LAN 1 port can work as the Internet WAN. Although we do not have a dedicated WAN port, we can use this LAN 1 port to connect the ONT of our fiber optic or our operator’s cable modem. Of course, in this case we also have all the configurations such as PPPoE, DHCP and it also supports VLANs with the 802.1Q standard.
Regarding the LAN, we have four Gigabit Ethernet ports to provide up to 1 Gbps of speed to the connected equipment. The processor and firmware support NAT by hardware, in addition, we have a quite configurable QoS to prioritize the different computers on the local network. A very important detail is that the LAN 1 port allows you to configure it as an Internet WAN. This model incorporates a USB 2.0 port on the side to share files and folders on the local network, making use of the Samba, FTP / FTPES servers and even allows multimedia sharing on the local network via DLNA server. This USB port could also be used as a USB modem for 4G / 3G networks.
Other ports that AVM has incorporated in this router is a TAE and RJ-11 port to connect analog telephones, the firmware of this router has an IP switchboard to manage fixed telephony or VoIP, in addition, we have advanced configuration options of the telephony, we have an answering machine, fax and we even have a DECT base to connect up to 6 cordless telephones simultaneously. If we buy Smart Home devices from AVM, we can connect them via DECT to the router directly wirelessly.
FRITZ! OS Firmware
This router also incorporates the FRITZ! OS operating system with all the advanced functionalities as always, we have the possibility to configure the Internet connection in detail, we can activate DNS over TLS to have security and privacy with DNS requests, we can also configure the WiFi networks in detail, form a high-performance wireless mesh network, configure VPN servers using the IPsec protocol, configure content filtering for parental control, limit Internet access for certain devices on the local network for time and many more configuration options.
What we value most about AVM’s FRITZ! OS firmware is the graphical user interface, they have done a great job, making it very friendly, fast and in Spanish. In addition, we have a “basic” version where we will not have the most advanced options at our disposal, but also an “advanced” view with all the menus available on the router.
Once we know the technical characteristics of this new router, we go with the external analysis of the equipment so that you can see how it is.
This new router from the manufacturer AVM comes in a small blue box, this model FRITZ! Box 7530 AXIt physically looks the same as the FRITZ! Box 7530, therefore the box is quite small compared to the FRITZ! Box 7590. On the front of the box we find the main features, such as that it has an xDSL modem with up to 300Mbps speed, it is compatible with ADSL2 + and VDSL2 connections, it has analog and VoIP telephony, a DECT base to connect up to 6 cordless telephones and also Smart Home devices. The main feature is the WiFi 6 with up to 574Mbps in 2.4GHz and up to 1.801Mbps in 5GHz, this is the main novelty of this new router. Finally, this equipment incorporates a total of four Gigabit Ethernet ports for the LAN, a USB 2.0 port and also FRITZ! OS, the most complete operating system for routers that we have today.
On the back of the box we find a diagram with all the connections and ports of the WiFi router, both the DSL, RJ-11 for telephone, Gigabit Ethernet and USB 2.0 ports on the side. In the central area we will find an explanation of its main characteristics, the same ones that we have explained in the introduction to this analysis. Finally, this equipment is compatible with other AVM devices and we have mobile applications with its FRITZ! Apps to manage the router and the entire home network from anywhere.
On the right side of the box we will find the main benefits of the FRITZ! Box routers, such as compatibility with any Internet connection, powerful hardware, automatic updates, technical support and also the FRITZ! Apps. On the left side we will find the MAC address and the CWMP account, of course, we will also find the different xDSL standards that this wireless router supports.
Inside the box, the first thing we are going to find is an installation card with the default SSID and the WPA2 key to connect via WiFi to the router, in this installation card we will also see how to log into the FRITZ! Box router and the main firmware menus. Of course, we will also find a quick installation guide in different languages, among which is the Spanish language. The contents of the box are as follows:

In the quick installation guide incorporated in this router we can see the contents of the box, the card with information about the WiFi connection data, how we should connect the xDSL cable and also the power connector, how we should connect via WiFI or cable to the router to start with the configuration thanks to the FRITZ! OS wizard and it will also indicate the frequencies that the equipment supports in WiFi and DECT.
The RJ-11 to RJ-45 cable will be used to use the integrated xDSL modem (ADSL2 + and VDSL2), this cable measures a total of about 4 meters, enough to connect it to any RJ-11 socket in our home. This cable will only serve us in the case of having an xDSL connection, if you have fiber it will not work for us. The built-in network cable is flat and Cat5e category, the length of this cable is about 1.5 meters, enough to connect our PC if we have it near the router, otherwise, we will have to buy a network cable something more long.
The current transformer of this equipment provides a voltage of 12V, and an intensity of 1.5A, enough to power the components of the router and the device that we connect to the USB 2.0 port that this router incorporates.
The new AVM FRITZ! Box 7530 AX router looks exactly the same as the AVM FRITZ! Box 7530 that we have already reviewed in RedesZone, same size, same buttons and almost the same features. On the front we find both the status LEDs of the equipment, from left to right we find the status of the router and the xDSL connection if it exists, status of the Wi-Fi of both frequency bands, status of the telephony and DECT, status of the WPS and also the info LED that we can customize through FRITZ! OS to show us different notices.
As for the buttons, we have a button to turn the Wi-Fi network on and off, another button to synchronize DECT devices such as FRITZ! Fon phones, and finally, the WPS button to connect other equipment easily without having to enter the password. . This “Connect / WPS” button is the most important, because it will allow us to synchronize other FRITZ! Devices. activating the FRITZ! Mesh to have a complete mesh WiFi network in our home.
In the lower area of the router we do not find any port or button, on the right side of the router we have the Fon port to connect an analog telephone and be able to use the IP switchboard that is integrated in the firmware. On the left side is where we are going to find the USB 2.0 port of the router, ideal to have it very accessible and share content on the network and the Internet easily and quickly, in addition, you can also connect other devices such as printers or a 4G / 3G modem .
In the back area of the router is where we find the rest of the ports. From left to right we are going to find the DSL port of the equipment, the RJ-11 port to connect an analog telephone, the four Gigabit Ethernet ports for the LAN and also the power connector of the router. We must remember that this router allows you to configure LAN port 1 as Internet WAN, in addition, the firmware supports VLANs in this equipment, so we can replace the router of our fiber optic operator.
At the bottom of the AVM FRITZ! Box 7530 AX is where we have the four anti-slip pads, two holes to place them on the wall, enough vents to adequately cool the router, and in the central part we have a sticker with the exact model of the router. team. In this sticker we can see the SSID and the default WPA2 key of the router, the password to access the router’s administration, and we will also have the serial number, CWMP account of the router and the electrical input characteristics.
So far we have come with our external analysis of the AVM FRITZ! Box 7530 AX, now we are going to go directly to our test laboratory to check the real performance that this equipment is capable of providing us.
The test lab, like all the previous ones, will be LAN-LAN, LAN-WAN and Wireless tests. You have more information about the tests we carry out and the hardware used in our Test Bench , if this is the first time you see our analysis, we recommend that you read it to know how we obtain all the values. Next, you have the tests and our conclusions.
In these LAN tests we will use JPerf to see how it behaves with multiple threads on the local network. This test will tell us if this router is saturated when we are going to transfer multiple files on the local network, or if everything will go very smoothly and we will not have problems.
With 100 concurrent TCP threads we obtain a transfer speed of 113MB / s, an excellent result, superior to other top-of-the-range routers from other manufacturers.
With 250 threads we obtain a speed of 113MB / s, a performance that is still perfect, with this router you will not have problems when making intensive use of the local network.
With 500 threads we get a speed of 112MB / s.
With 750 threads we get a speed of 112MB / s.
With 1000 threads we get a speed of 112MB / s, a performance that is simply spectacular.

The performance of this new FRITZ! Box 7530 AX router has pleasantly impressed us. It is one of the best routers in the LAN-LAN tests, we have been able to get 112MB / s or more in each and every performance test, including the 1000 TCP thread test which is really complicated. This device behaves perfectly in the home network and will provide you with fantastic performance, even if you use the network intensively, passing hundreds of files simultaneously.
In this test we will simulate how it will behave with P2P programs, since we will connect multiple threads from the LAN to the WAN. As we told you before, this router has hardware NAT, and its firmware implements this feature, so we expect a great performance in this test.
With 100 threads we get a speed of 110 MB / s, an excellent performance. With this router we will not have problems if we use P2P programs and we have a large Internet bandwidth.
With 250 threads we get a speed of 104 MB / s, a speed that is also excellent, we can still squeeze 600Mbps connections without any problem.
With 500 threads we get a speed of 90.8 MB / s, an outstanding speed, although we did not reach 100MB / s, we can continue squeezing 600Mbps symmetric connections without problems.
With 750 threads we get a speed of 74.9 MB / s, the performance in this case is remarkable, we will be able to squeeze 600Mbps Internet connections as well, although we will be at the limit.
The 1000 TCP threads test failed to pass successfully.

The overall performance obtained by this router in the LAN-WAN test has been outstanding. We have achieved great speed even in the 750 threads test, achieving more than 600Mbps of performance, however, it is rare that in a home environment we have so much network traffic. With this router you will have no problem squeezing 600Mbps connections to the maximum even if you use P2P traffic intensively. We have verified that the P2P programs work really well with this router and it does not saturate, so you can enjoy them without problems.
WiFi 6 testing with the FRITZ! Box 7530 AX
The time has come to check if the wireless coverage and speed of this AVM FRITZ! Box 7530 AX router is capable of providing us with great WiFi coverage and great WiFi wireless performance. We anticipate that we have achieved very good speeds, those expected from a router with AX2400 class WiFi 6.

The iperf3 server is located in the local network on a NAS server connected via LAN, in this case the maximum speed that we can achieve is 1Gbps. In this case we will not have any bottleneck because the router does not support 160MHz of channel width. The WiFi card that we will use is the Intel AX200 which is AX3000 class. We must bear in mind that in the market we do not have WiFi 6 cards via USB yet, they are about to arrive.

In this 2.4GHz frequency band we can achieve up to 574Mbps theoretical with this wireless router, as long as the WiFi card also has two antennas and is WiFi 6. As can be seen from the performance tests, this router is capable of providing excellent performance in this frequency band. When we are in places close to the router we have achieved a speed of 221Mbps, an outstanding speed. It has also behaved really well when we are very far from the router, such as in the attic where we have managed to connect and achieve a speed of 13Mbps, something quite incredible due to the physical distance there is and the many obstacles.
FRITZ! Box 7530 AX AX2400: Testing in the 5GHz band
Now we are going to check the wireless performance that we achieve in the 5GHz band with low channels . In this frequency band we can achieve a speed of up to 1801Mbps if we have a WiFi card with three antennas, in our case with the Intel AX200 we will only achieve a maximum of 1201Mbps by having two antennas. This router does not support 160MHz channel width to squeeze the most out of the wireless connection.
Here are the results with the iperf3 client-server with 20 concurrent TCP threads, and using the Intel AX200 card.

As can be seen from the table, this router provides excellent coverage and speed in all scenarios. Thanks to the Intel AX200 card we have been able to achieve a speed of real 730Mbps in places close to the router, however, in other locations such as the kitchen we have achieved 380Mbps and in the main room 270Mbps. It is noted that this router does not have 160MHz channel width, we would have achieved more speed both in close places and in places of medium distance, as we have obtained in other routers that do incorporate this important feature.
In the 2.4GHz band this AVM FRITZ! Box 7530 AX router has performed outstandingly in all the locations where we have performed the tests. The maximum speed we have achieved is 220Mbps in the closest place to the router, the most remarkable thing is the wireless range we have obtained, achieving 13Mbps of speed in the attic, therefore, this frequency band works perfectly.
In the 5GHz band it has behaved in an outstanding way, although we have the handicap that it does not support the 160MHz of channel width in this frequency band, something that weighs it down in short and medium distances. If we had this important feature we could have achieved a speed 50% higher in certain cases. In remote places like the attic it has behaved very well, even managing to exceed the speed achieved in the 2.4GHz band.
USB 2.0 testing
This router incorporates a USB 2.0 port and multiple services to make the most of it, the USB tests are like the ones we have always been doing in RedesZone. We will use a USB 3.2 Gen 2 enclosed SSD drive to copy files larger than 4GB to check the read and write speed. We will carry out the measurements with the Samba server that incorporates the router, via FTP and FTPES.

USB 2.0 conclusions
It’s a real shame that AVM has built a USB 2.0 port into this router instead of a high-performance USB 3.0 port. With the previous FRITZ! Box 7530 we achieved speeds of 117MB / s, however, the maximum speed with this model is almost 39MB / s, an outstanding speed for a USB 2.0 port, but clearly lower when compared to a USB 3.0 port. .
The main processor of this router shows that it can provide higher performance, however, the USB 2.0 interface will be the limitation. The performance we have achieved with the FTPES server shows us that the CPU is quite powerful, in addition, the FRITZ! OS operating system has incorporated maximum security into this FTPES server, providing it with the TLS 1.3 protocol for the control connection and AES-256- GCM for data connection, therefore, we have the best possible combination to guarantee the confidentiality and authenticity of the data.
FRITZ! OS Configuration Wizard
The setup wizard for this FRITZ! Box 7530 AX router is exactly the same as always. To access the configuration wizard for the first time, we have to connect via WiFi or cable to the router, then we must enter the fritz.box domain in the web browser, or enter the default IP address 192.168.178.1 to access remotely.
In the first menu of this configuration wizard we must choose the language, we have chosen Spanish. Next, we must choose our country and select the Annex of our DSL connection, if you do not have xDSL or do not know which one to choose, choose Annex A which is the default. By clicking «Next» the router will restart automatically.
When the router restarts, it will ask us again for the administration password to continue with the configuration. It will then ask us if we want to enable diagnostics and maintenance to send error reports to AVM.
The Internet connection setup wizard starts now, we must choose our Internet connection provider and give it a name, then we will have to choose the type of connection, DSL or use it as a neutral router, we choose the option that we need in our home and it will indicate that LAN port 1 will be used as the Internet WAN. Next, we must verify that the WAN port (LAN 1) is not being used.
For the QoS to work correctly it is absolutely necessary to set the real speed of our Internet connection, then it will indicate that now is when we must connect the WAN port to the ONT or cable modem of our operator. Finally, it will show us a summary of the configuration made and it will indicate that the router will restart, and that we can find the administration via the web at the address 192.168.188.1.
Once it has been restarted, if we enter the firmware, the first thing to do is update the firmware. AVM is one of the manufacturers that best update their routers, incorporating new functionalities, correcting bugs that exist in previous versions and globally improving the firmware for all their routers. Once we have updated it, we can enter the main menu and start with the specific configuration.
Once we have seen how the configuration assistant of this FRITZ! Box 7530 AX router is like, we are going to see what the firmware of this new router is like, we anticipate that we will have the same options as always, nothing has changed.
FRITZ! OS Firmware
The firmware of this new FRITZ! Box 7530 AX router is the same as always, the latest version available is FRITZ! OS 7.27 and it is the one we should have to have all the improvements and bug fixes. In the main menu we can see the general view of the router, the Internet connection, telephony, equipment currently connected via cable and WiFi, the different interfaces we have on the router, the answering machine and even other services.
In the upper right area we will have buttons to access the FRITZ! NAS of the router and also the MyFRITZ! to locate the router on the local network. Now we are going to show you each and every one of the menus of this router, although if you already know the firmware of other AVM routers, you will see that they are exactly the same as always, there is no difference.
In the “Internet” section we can monitor our Internet connection, both the download and upload channel, it will show us the IP address we have, and it will even indicate which DNS servers we are using. We can also see a traffic counter, ideal if we have an Internet service with limited GB.
In ” Access data ” is where we will configure in detail the Internet connection with the Internet provider that we have, we must correctly configure the connection, set the real speed of our Internet connection, the VLAN of access to the service, etc. In this menu we will also have everything related to the IPv6 standard, LISP, the AVM services that we have in this router and the DNS servers. Something remarkable about DNS servers is that this FRITZ! Box router supports DNS over TLS, so that all our DNS queries are encrypted
In the “Filters” section we can see the parental control of the router and configure it in detail, we will also have the possibility to configure different access profiles, prioritize the different equipment thanks to the QoS built into the router, and finally, we can create access lists for parental control of content. This router is very configurable at the parental control level, it is one of the best in this regard, in fact, it is more complete than those of ASUS or NETGEAR and its operation is clearly much better.
In the ” Allow access ” section is where we have to configure port forwarding for the local computers that we want, we can also configure the different FRITZ! Box services such as accessing the router via HTTPS over the Internet, or using the server FTP / FTPES over the Internet. AVM allows you to protect the HTTPS connection with a Let’s Encrypt certificate, it is not a self-signed certificate like other manufacturers. The DynDNS providers available are quite numerous, however, the manufacturer himself with his MyFRITZ! You already have this functionality, although the domain is random and too long.
Finally, in this menu we will also have the VPN server / client that uses IPsec. We can configure different remote access VPN profiles and also site-to-site VPN to connect to another headquarters easily and quickly.
In the “MyFRITZ account!” It is where we can register our router by putting our email, thanks to this service we can locate the router through the Internet, it will notify us if there is a problem, it will send us emails about new available firmwares, connected devices, who logs in to the router and many more notices that we can configure in detail.
As you can see, the “Internet” section is very complete.
In the “Telephony” section is where we can configure the VoIP and analog telephony of this router, we can see the list of incoming, outgoing and missed calls, the answering machine, the call schedule, configure alarms, the fax, and even manage the cordless telephones themselves to make internal calls. FRITZ! Fon are the FRITZ! that allow us to make the most of its functionalities, without a doubt, if you do not have an AVM phone, we recommend you buy one to test all its added functionalities.
The telephony part is really complete, and above all, it is very easy to configure. We will not have to configure complicated parameters as it happens with other IP switchboards, everything is very easy to do here.
In the “Mesh Network” section we will be able to see a diagram of all current network connections, both wired and wireless. In this menu we can see the status of the Internet WAN and the LAN, either wired or wireless. If we have more FRITZ! forming a WiFi Mesh network we will also be able to see it in this menu, and we can even update its firmware easily and quickly. In the “Mesh network configuration” section we can choose between configuring this router as a Mesh base or as a Mesh repeater, by default, all routers have the Mesh base configured.
In the “Network” section we will see the list of clients connected to the router, we can also specifically enter each of the devices to configure a fixed IP address, enable port forwarding and other options. In “Network Configuration” we can choose between two modes, configure it as the main router with its DHCP server, or as an IP client, the normal thing is to use it as an Internet router if this equipment is used as the main router. We can also enable in this section the guest WiFi network for LAN 4, and even choose the maximum synchronization speed of the LAN ports.
Other advanced options available include enabling access to the FRITZ! to the router to get its status, enable UPnP and also configure the router time. We also have the possibility to configure protection against DNS rebinding to mitigate possible attacks carried out on us. In the case of using a reverse proxy to access the router from the Internet, in this menu you must configure the domain you have used to access, otherwise, it will give a security error and will not let us enter.
Other options available are to be able to change the LAN subnet and also the guest subnet. Finally, this router also allows you to configure static routes to reach other networks.
In the ” USB / Memory ” section we can see the external hard drive or pendrive that we have inserted in the router, in this menu we can enable the Samba server, FTP server and also FTPES server, in addition, we can configure the remote USB connection to use printers connected to the router. Other options are to configure the media server, Internet radio, and podcast.
As you can see, we have the same configuration options as always, very wide options and we can configure the home local network in detail.
In the WiFi section, we do not have any specific additional options for the WiFi 6 standard, we have the same configuration options as always. We can activate the Smart Connect with band-steering, or have an SSID for each frequency band to distinguish between both available bands. In the channels section we can make a fully automatic adjustment, or configure the main options in detail, as long as we know exactly what we are doing. We can configure the channels, optimize the WiFi network for streaming and other very interesting options.
In terms of security, this router has WPA2 or WPA2 / WPA3, that is, the safest security protocols that we can find today. We also have the WPS protocol, in this router it only works through the button and not by PIN, this WPS will allow us to synchronize other AVM devices and incorporate them into the manufacturer’s Mesh network. Other options available are timer options to turn the WiFi network on and off automatically, and also configure guest access.
The WiFi zone in AVM routers are very complete, in addition, all the settings are quite intuitive, so that any user can make the correct configuration for their needs.
This router has a DECT base to which we can connect smart plugs, thermostats and other home automation devices from the AVM manufacturer. This menu is where we can register, manage and administer all the manufacturer’s Smart Home devices, with really intuitive menus.
If you install a smart plug, you can program automatic on and off, see the real-time consumption of the device connected to said plug, and we can even turn it on or off remotely easily.
AVM is one of the best manufacturers in home automation issues, using its own DECT-based routers as a «central», something ideal for not needing a «hub» to connect the different devices.
In the ” Diagnosis ” section we will be able to carry out a global test of all the configuration options that we have put in the router. This utility will allow us to know if we have any type of security problem or a configuration that it is not recommended to have. Once we have completely configured the router, it would be advisable to perform a diagnostic test to see if everything is working correctly or not.
In the ” Security ” section we can see the version of the operating system, the status of the Internet connection with a list of all open ports that we have on the different computers on the local network and other information related to security. It is highly recommended to visit this menu when we have configured the different users, the WiFi network and the opening of ports, because it will indicate if there is any type of security problem.
In the “System” section we can see the different events, that is, all the router logs that are generated automatically. We will also be able to see the router’s real-time power consumption, CPU and RAM usage statistics, as well as the real-time CPU temperature. Other options are to configure each and every one of the router notifications, these notifications are sent via email from the email account that we want. AVM FRITZ! It is one of the few manufacturers of home routers that allows the sending of notifications by email, and in this case, it does it really well.
In the “FRITZ! Box Users” section we can register the different users with different permissions, by default the administrator user is registered, but we can create other administrator users without any problem. Other options are to be able to configure the «Additional confirmation» to make changes, in this way, we will be forcing ourselves to be physically next to the router. Regarding the buttons and indicators, we can configure the info LED and also configure whether or not we want to turn off the status LEDs of the equipment.
In the “Region and language” section we can see and configure the language, regional settings and also the time zone of the equipment.
In the “Protection” section we can save the router configuration, restore the saved configuration, restart the router and reset it to factory settings.
In “Update” is where we can update the router firmware automatically, we can also configure the update policy, and even update the router firmware manually, to load a beta version that we do not yet have available on the router.

So far we have come with our analysis of the FRITZ! Box 7530 AX router, a medium-high-end device with the WiFi 6 standard that has obtained very good results in the performance tests carried out. Once we know in detail what this new router is like in detail, we proceed to list the strengths, weaknesses and final conclusions of this router.
- Excellent LAN-LAN performance in all measurements, it has been able to pass the 1000 TCP threads test with no problems. Remarkable is the stability of simultaneous connections, ideal for squeezing the home local network.
- Outstanding LAN-WAN performance globally, although here we have not been able to pass the test of 1,000 TCP threads, it is true that up to 750 threads the performance is outstanding, you will not have any problem with P2P programs.
- Outstanding 2.4GHz Wi-Fi performance, we have achieved speeds of up to real 220Mbps. The vertical and horizontal coverage is also outstanding.
- Outstanding 5GHz Wi-Fi performance, we have achieved speeds of up to 732Mbps in the same room with a 2 × 2 card. The vertical and horizontal coverage is a very positive point, we will be able to achieve good wireless performance in any situation.
- Complete configuration wizard and in Spanish that will help us with the set-up of the equipment in a few steps. Thanks to this assistant of the FRITZ! Box we will be able to carry out the commissioning very quickly.
- The FRITZ! Box firmware is very easy to manage, it is the same configuration menu as always, with all the services such as IPsec VPN servers / clients, FTPES (secure FTP), full support for IPv6, support for mobile devices, home automation and DECT base. Support for VLAN ID both in the WAN port (LAN 1) and in xDSL, in this way, we can use it in operators that use VLANs.

- Outstanding price: the price of this router is 170 euros, a very competitive price if we consider that it has high-performance WiFi 6.
- Has a USB 2.0 port instead of USB 3.0

- It does not have the triple VLAN of Movistar FTTH to have each and every one of the services offered by the original router.
This new FRITZ! Box 7530 AX router is one of the best WiFi 6 routers that we have tested so far, and all that without having to pay more than € 200 for it. This model is available for a price of about 170 euros, a really competitive price if we take into account the hardware and that it is AX2400 class. This model improves in everything, except USB 2.0, to its brother the FRITZ! Box 7530, since it has a more powerful processor and also WiFi 6, which is the most differential and characteristic.
The LAN-LAN performance we have achieved with this router has been excellent, it has simply been one of the best routers we have tested to date. Regarding the LAN-WAN speed , the performance has also been outstanding, although in the test of the 1,000 TCP threads we have not been able to pass it satisfactorily, however, you will not have problems when using P2P programs intensively.
Regarding wireless performance , it has been outstanding in both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, with good horizontal coverage and also vertical coverage. In this chaos, we have achieved a speed of up to 220Mbps in 2.4GHz and up to 730Mbps in the 5GHz band, expected values, it is a real pity that it does not support 160MHz of channel width in 5GHz to get an extra wireless speed.
The speed of the USB 2.0 port with NTFS file system has been outstanding , but of course, it is outstanding considering that it is USB 2.0 and not USB 3.0 as the “normal” FRITZ! Box 7530 model has. We have gone from more than 100MB / s speed to about 38MB / s maximum, simply because it has a USB 2.0 interface. The speed of FTPES is also quite good (6.5MB / s) since we must bear in mind that the traffic is encrypted with AES-256-GCM, one of the most secure symmetric encryption algorithms currently, and its CPU does not have AES -NI to accelerate by hardware.
This FRITZ! Box 7530 AX incorporates FRITZ! OS 7.27 firmware with the same configuration options and services as always. AVM is one of the manufacturers that does the best job in terms of firmware, we will have options such as FTPES server, IPsec VPN server / client, WoL, support for remote management mobile apps, full support for IPv6 and much more. A very remarkable aspect is the Mesh part, and that is that we will be able to configure other routers, WiFi repeaters and PLC with WiFi from the AVM manufacturer to form a complete high-performance mesh WiFi network. However, not everything could be perfect in the firmware, it does not incorporate the possibility of configuring VLANs per port or the popular Triple VLAN of Movistar FTTH.
Finally, the price of this router is around € 170, a price somewhat in line with its technical specifications and with the real performance that we have achieved with this equipment. This model is ideal for home environments where we want to have the best possible WiFi performance, in addition, we must bear in mind that it has a DECT base, IP telephony and more.
