Red Dead Redemption is an exciting game even if we focus only on the main missions. But as a good Rockstar game , it does not give up on the secondary tasks that have so characterized the GTA saga . For example, in the Wild West we can find up to four types of environmental challenges : treasure hunters, survivors, shooters and hunters . Today we focus on the latter and we tell you how to activate and complete them all.
Environmental challenges in Red Dead Redemption
Red Dead Redemption’s challenges are nothing more than a set of challenges that we can complete whenever we want (although we must first unlock them). If we succeed, apart from adding a percentage towards 100% of the game, we can get improvements and rewards of all kinds. In addition, they are environmental challenges, since we will come across them simply by travelling through the game world.
There are four types of environmental challenges in Red Dead Redemption : hunter challenges, shooter challenges, survivor challenges, and treasure hunter challenges. The game also offers other types of challenges , such as some multiplayer challenges, or those that came with the Undead Nightmare DLC.
The Hunter Challenge and all missions
As we have mentioned before, in this article we will focus on the missions that refer to the Hunter Challenge. And the first thing you will have to take into account is how to activate this challenge . To do this, it will be enough to do something that we can do consciously or by “chance”. Simply, we will have to hunt a coyote and skin it to obtain the pieces to sell.
If we do so, a series of challenges will be activated, which will always refer to hunting animals, but which will force us to do so under certain conditions , each time more complicated. But before seeing the list of levels of the challenge, we remind you that we have a very complete article in which to discover the location of all the animals in RDR .
In the case of coyotes, remember that they can be found very easily in New Austin . More specifically, around Armadillo, The Hanging Rock, MacFarlane’s Ranch and Gaptooth Ridge. In addition, they are also abundant in Nuevo Paraiso. Especially in the open field between Chuparosa and Escalera. Now, we leave you with the list of missions so you know how to complete them :
LEVEL | MISSION OBJECTIVE | TIPS | Rewards |
1 | Kill and skin 5 coyotes | Head north of the Rio Grande | – |
2 | Kill and skin 5 deer (deer do not count) | They are almost everywhere, but there are many around Fort Mercer and in Mexico. | – |
3 | Kill 5 wolves with the knife and skin them | The tricky part of this challenge is that the wolves come in packs, so you’ll need to use the DeadEye to shoot their legs first. | – |
4 | Get 3 Armadillo Shells and 5 Boar Tusks (the ones you already have don’t count) | You’ll find plenty of boars south of Tall Trees, Great Plains, or Wreck of the Serendipity. And armadillos are found near Armadillo, in the central regions of New Austin, and in Nuevo Paraíso. | – |
5 | Kill 2 pumas with the knife and skin them | This is one of the most difficult challenges. First of all, it is essential to use Dead Eye to attack the puma. And the other great tip is to always try to dodge its first blow. This will leave the puma exposed for a few seconds. Another trick is to attack a puma that is trying to eat another person. This happens often in Silent Stead. | Upon completing level 5, the Hunting Rifle will now be available for purchase. |
6 | Kill 5 raccoons, 5 foxes and 5 skunks and skin them | While foxes will be seen frequently around Wreck of the Serendipity (at night), raccoons will be near The Hanging Rock (at night). Finally, skunks will be found in the Ten Crowns region, especially between 7 and 9 am. | – |
7 | Get 5 pieces of elk meat and 5 mouflon skins | These animals frequently appear in Tall Trees, in the northern area of Cholla Springs and/or Tanner’s Reach. Be careful of the bears, though. | – |
8 | Killing a bear with a knife and skinning it | Ideally, you should follow the same advice as with the puma, but remember that you can weaken the animals a little with a firearm first. | – |
9 | Go to Devil’s Eye and kill Khan the Jaguar and skin him | The best way to do this is to use Bait to make him appear. And there is a very simple trick: get on a carriage and shoot him in the head with DeadEye. From there, he won’t attack you. | – |
10 | Kill and skin Fang the Wolf, Gordo the Boar and Brumas the Bear at Nekoti Rock | Fang the Wolf is located in Tall Trees, Fatso the Boar is in Stillwater Creek and Mists the Bear is in Nekoti Rock | After completing the challenge, we will be able to create provisions by skinning an animal. These are items to restore health. |
