All Recall Crystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and How to Get Them

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Walkthroughcan become too long and tedious if you do not get acquainted with the local fast travel system in time. In a separate guide, we have already told you how the teleport mechanics work . This guide will be devoted to an important element of fast travel, without which it is simply impossible to teleport – return crystals. Finding them in the game can be quite a difficult task, but with our tips you will be able to find all the crystals.

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Return Crystals allow you to set a teleportation point anywhere. This allows you to quickly travel to a convenient area at any time, making them very valuable items, especially when exploring the large open world. Below, we’ll tell you how to find or get Return Crystals, as well as share tips on how to place them effectively.

Return Crystals in Vernworth and Harv Village

There are only two return crystals in the game, which you won’t have to look for very long. They were pre-installed by the developers in certain places. To activate them, it will be enough to just get close enough to them, after which you can always teleport to them from anywhere on the map. At the same time, they are stationary and will always be tied to a certain area, which makes them slightly limited.

So, the first two crystals of return are located almost in the starting zone of Dragon’s Dogma 2. One of the crystals of return is in the city of Vernworth near the pawn guild, before the entrance to the noble quarter and the road to the castle. The second crystal is on the edge of the village of Harv – near the shore near the distant hut with a pier. Their exact location is marked on the map below.

Please note that there are no other stationary return crystals – teleportation points in the game. You will not be able to find them even in another large city Bakbattal or volcanic island. The remaining crystals are portable, they must be obtained and then installed in the desired location.

Other permanent travel points are only unlocked after completing the story campaign and getting the “true” ending of Dragon’s Dogma 2. Waiting for them to unlock would be a rash decision, even if you leave most of the side quests for later.

Crystal of Return in the Griffin’s Nest in the Misty Marshes

The first reusable crystal of return can be obtained immediately upon arrival in Vernworth. At the same time, you do not need to do the main or story quest. All that is required of you is to go in search of the Griffin’s nest in the forest, which is located near the Misty Marshes. This can be done with almost no additional preparation and a high level. You will just need to move only during the daytime and try to avoid battles with bosses or other strong enemies.

We have described in more detail how to find the Griffin’s Nest in the forest in a special guide . There you will find all the available routes to this place, as well as effective tactics against the Griffin, if you still have to fight him. Here we will mark the easiest way from Wernworth.

From the western gate, follow the main road that leads north to the mines. This path will be a little longer, but here on the roads there are only weak goblins that are easy to defeat. Move along the road, navigating on the map above, until you find the Misty Marshes. You do not need to enter the location itself. It is too difficult to navigate there, and among the enemies there are wolves and skeletons. Get to the road, to the place where the last arrow points. Here you can climb higher along the cliff and find yourself right above the griffin’s nest. However, if you come during the day, the monster itself may not be nearby, and you can easily get the return crystal.

Crystal of Return from the Elves – Quest “Arrow Trial”

The second crystal will also be relatively easy to obtain. However, to do so, you will need to complete several side quests from the elf Glindr and switch to the archer class, at least temporarily.

You will receive the Crystal of Return as a reward from the elves for saving the princess in the quest “Arrow Trial”. Before this quest opens up to you, you will have to help Glindr with choosing a bow and training it. Your character level will be almost unimportant, but at some point you will need to switch to the archer class to successfully complete one of the first quests.

First, you need to complete the quest “The Gift of the Archer”. In the Wernworth Marketplace, you will meet an elf named Glindr, who will ask you for a bow. Any bow that you find during adventures or simply buy from a blacksmith will do. Then you need to hand over the bow and switch to the archer class.

After that, you will need to meet Glindr in the ruins, which will be marked on the map. Here you will need to help with archery training. You will only need to hit the targets a few times. After that, the task will be completed, and you can return to your main class. You need to wait a few game days for the quest “Arrow Trial” to automatically appear. In the specified place, you will need to meet the elf and go to his settlement together. Here, it is better to take a pawn with the “Forest Speech Expert” specialization with you in advance to understand the speech of the elves. However, this is not at all necessary.

In this quest, the trials will be cancelled due to an ogre attack. You will need to go to his lair with the elves and save the princess. You will not be required to do anything special, you just need to follow the quest objectives. When the elf shoots the monster’s hand, you will be able to take the elf and escape from the cave. After that, you will need to talk to the elves to complete the quest and receive a reward, including a return crystal.

Crystal from Captain Brant – Quest “Fairytale of Deception”

You will receive another Return Crystal as a reward for completing a chain of quests from Captain Brant in Wernworth. To do this, you will need to defeat the monsters in the specified places, get into the castle and get to the quest “Fairy Tale of Deception”. This is the main story quest, so you will not be able to miss it.

In this quest, Captain Brant will ask you to attend the coronation of the false Overlord. However, he will not let you in your normal outfit. You will have to find a suitable outfit for this event. The correct outfit means the normal courtier’s clothes. You probably got it during the quest “The Stolen Throne”. If you lost it or sold it, the courtier’s clothes can be re-acquired at the place where the masquerade took place in one of the neighboring rooms. This outfit can also be bought in the shop near the armorer.

Once everything is ready, talk to Brantov and go to the coronation together. After a short cutscene, the quest will be completed and you will be instructed to go to Bakbattal, and together with this you will be given a return crystal.

Crystal of Return from the Dragonborn

Another crystal of return can be obtained only after achieving a certain story quest. As part of the main quests, you will need to get to the capital of Battal – Bakbattal. From here, the main quest with the subtitle “Vague Shadows” will begin, in which you will need to talk to Ambrosius. The scientist will ask you to collect several crystal fragments on the coast and give them to him. In gratitude, he will share important information about your main goal and send you to the local oracle and the Dragonborn. It is from the latter that you can buy the crystal of return.

The Dragonborn is located in the Coastal Temple by the road, not too far from the Ambrosius Expedition. If you want to get another Recall Crystal, go to the location indicated in the screenshot above. However, keep in mind that to get the crystal, you will need to mine 20 Dragon Crystals. They can be found in the open world in chests (in very small quantities) or looted from the corpses of defeated drakes. When and where to kill the drakes is up to you. They are found all over the world and are considered one of the strongest opponents, so you need high-level heroes to fight them.

You can kill your first drake on the ancient battlefields. There are several ballistas here that can be used to defeat the dangerous relative of the dragon.

Note that you can find the Dragonborn much earlier, however, he will not offer his wares or improve gear until you complete the “Vague Shadows” portion of the questline and meet with Ambrosius.

Crystals from the Sphinx – The Riddle of Madness and The Riddle of Conviction

The previous crystals are easy to obtain. Some of them require completing simple tasks that you will definitely encounter along the way. The last two portable crystals will be much more difficult to obtain. They will require you to find the Sphinx and solve two riddles from this monster.

To find the Sphinx, reach the border town and explore the ancient battlefield. From here, you should find a dungeon that will lead you to an ancient temple and a monster with riddles. The full path to the Sphinx is shown in the video below:

To get two return crystals at once, you need to solve the Riddle of Madness and the Riddle of Persuasion. And the order in which they are solved must be exactly this.

Riddle of Madness . The Sphinx demands that you bring him your most precious person. At first, it may seem that you will need to start a romance or achieve a certain level of affection with the main characters of the game, such as Ulrika, Velhelmina or Brant. But everything is much simpler: you need to bring the monster your main pawn. When the monster asks you if you are sure of your choice, answer “yes” and open the chest. Inside you will find a crystal of return.

Riddle of Persuasion . The Sphinx demands that you give up your most valuable item, otherwise you risk losing lives. In fact, you can give up literally any item from your inventory. The riddle will be solved in any case, but it is best to choose the crystal of return received for the previous riddle. This way, you will receive another crystal of return as a reward.

How to get return crystals through the Rift using a pawn

Above, we have described all the known ways to obtain reusable portable rift crystals. Getting them is not particularly difficult if you follow our tips. As a result, you will get six crystals, which should be enough to move around the entire map. However, if this is not enough for you, you can try your luck in the rift.

There is a small chance to get a return crystal as a reward for helping another player with your main pawn. It is worth noting that this happens very rarely, because players must literally hand you this item, and few people want to part with such a valuable thing. However, you can simplify this process a little and rely on their generosity.

Go to the nearest riftstone and set your pawn’s task. Among the requirements, specify to receive an item and select a rift crystal. As a reward, you can offer players gold or another valuable item.

Where is the best place to place return crystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Return crystals of any kind will not work on their own. To use them, you must use travel stones, which are obtained by exploring the world or completing quests. You can also buy them, but in any case, there may not be many of them, so it is important not only to save these stones, but also to place crystals for teleportation as efficiently as possible.

Below is a list of the best places to place your return crystals:

  • Bakbattal is a large city of beastmen. There are many unique shops and side quests here. It will also be an important area in the game’s story, where you will have to return many times. Place the crystal in the marketplace or near your house. You can find out how to get a house there in this guide .
  • Sacred Grove is an elven settlement with a unique blacksmith and a number of additional quests. You can place a crystal right in the center of their settlement.
  • Volcanic Island Camp – Here you will find hot springs and from here it will be convenient to explore the Agamen region.
  • Near the Sphinx – to solve all the puzzles, you will need to return to this monster at least 10 times. The Sphinx is not in the most convenient places, so getting to it on foot every time is not the best idea.
  • They can also be placed in particularly remote locations or rare craftsmen that you need.
