Detector “Echo”
The Echo Detector is a basic tool that the player encounters at the very beginning of the game. It does not have many functions, but it copes with its standard task: in particular, it helps to find artifacts in nearby anomalies.
“Echo” reacts to approaching an artifact by flashing the LED and short sound signals. The closer you are to the artifacts, the more often and intensely the indicator will flash, and the sound signals will become louder.
This detector is given to the player automatically at the beginning of the game, and can also be found as part of the mission “There and Back Again”, when you find the body of scientist Pyotr Erekin. Despite its narrow functionality, “Echo” will be useful in the early stages, but over time you will probably want to move on to more advanced models.
Detector “Gilka”
The Gilka detector is an improved version of the Echo detector, designed for more accurate artifact search. This device displays the distance to the artifact in meters, which facilitates the search process, although the display is updated with a delay.
It can be used in the early and middle stages of the game, when you have already learned to navigate anomalies, but are not yet ready for more complex devices.
“Gilka” can be obtained by completing the side mission “We will!” in the Garbage area, where you will find yourself in the company of stalkers who need help. It can also be found from merchants in some locations, such as Rostock and Bar 100 X-ray.
Detector “Bear”
The “Bear” detector is a more advanced model equipped with a radar. It allows you to not only determine the direction to artifacts, but also estimate the distance to them. This makes the search process much more convenient and accurate.
“Bear” is especially useful for stalkers who have already learned to navigate the Zone and want to get more accurate information about the location of artifacts.
