We show you all the Traits of our character in Starfield and which are the best and the best combinations to start the game. The character creation system in Starfield allows us to choose between different Traits . On this page of our Starfield guide we tell you what all the Traits are and which ones are the best :

All Character Traits in Starfield: Full List and Best Combinations.

When creating our character in Starfield, we have two sections that correspond to the Backgrounds and the Traits . The Traits part corresponds to characteristics that define our character , which makes the game experience very different . Choosing the right combination of three possible Traits makes the game more or less simple.

There are a total of 17 different Traits . Below we leave you with all the Starfield Traits and which ones are the best :

  • Alien DNA – You volunteered as a guinea pig for a controversial experiment to combine human and alien DNA. Thanks to it, you start off with more health and oxygen, but healing items aren’t as effective.
  • Serpent’s Embrace – You were raised worshipping the Great Serpent. Gravity jumps give you a temporary boost to health and oxygen, but both go down if you don’t jump regularly; it’s like an addiction (can’t be combined with traits from another religion).
  • Filial Attachment : Your parents are still alive and well, and you can go visit them at their home. However, you will automatically send them 2% of your credits every week.
  • Foreman : Occasionally, if you have crew members with experience in a certain ship system, it will automatically fully repair itself when its integrity drops below 50%. On the other hand, it costs twice as much to hire crew.
  • Freestar Settler – You have access to special Freestar Collective dialogue options and improved rewards on some quests from that faction. However, the reward for crimes paid by other factions is greatly increased (cannot be combined with traits from another religion).
  • From Space : Your body has acclimated to space. Your health and oxygen increase when you are in space, but decrease if you are on a planet (cannot be combined with solid ground).
  • Empathy : You have a deep connection with the feelings of others. Performing actions that your partner likes will increase your combat effectiveness. On the other hand, performing actions that your partner doesn’t like will have the opposite result.
  • Wanted : Someone has put a price on your head, and it’s common knowledge. You’ll occasionally encounter armed mercenaries who will try to kill you, but when you’re cornered you’re at your best, as you deal more damage when you’re on low health.
  • Extroversion : You have a gift for people. When you make an effort, you consume less oxygen when you do it in human company, but more if you do it alone (cannot be combined with Introversion).
  • Lifelong Enlightened One – You were raised as a member of the Enlightened Ones. You gain access to a special chest filled with items from the House of Enlightenment in New Atlantis, but lose access to the Sanctum Universum chest (cannot be combined with traits from another religion).
  • Introversion : From time to time, you need to be alone. You’ll consume less oxygen when exerting yourself physically if you go on adventures alone, but more if you’re accompanied by other humans (cannot be combined with Extroversion).
  • Belonging to the CU : You have access to special dialogue options from the United Colonies and better rewards on some missions from that faction. However, the reward for crimes paid by other factions is greatly increased (cannot be combined with traits from another religion).
  • Neon Street Rat – You were raised on the dangerous streets of Neon. You have access to special dialogue options and better rewards on some missions in Neon. The reward for crimes paid by other factions is greatly increased (cannot be combined with traits from another religion).
  • Solid Earth : You have never managed to acclimatize to space. Your health and oxygen are increased when you are on a planet, but decreased when you are in space (cannot be combined with From Space).
  • Universal Lifelong – You were raised as part of the Sanctum Universum. You gain access to a special chest filled with items in the Sanctum Universum of New Atlantis, but lose access to the chest in the House of Enlightenment (cannot be combined with traits from another religion).
  • Dream Home – A customizable luxury mansion on a peaceful planet! Unfortunately, it comes with a 125,000 credit mortgage with GalBank that needs to be paid off weekly.
  • Worshipped Idol – You have caught the eye of an annoying “admirer” who will appear from time to time and pester you non-stop. There is a silver lining: he will join your ship’s crew and give you gifts…

What are the best Traits for our character in Starfield?

As with Backgrounds, you want to choose Character Traits that match the playstyle you plan to play in . For example, it doesn’t make sense to choose Introversion if you plan to play with your friends all the time, as it will be detrimental to you. As a general rule, we advise against choosing Traits that give immediate material rewards because you can get them later (like Dream Housing), and instead focus on the ones that help you the most for the way you plan to play .

In Search is extremely useful despite what it may seem at first: the game sends us bounty hunters periodically that we can eliminate and thus loot to get resources easily. Remember that if we play on low difficulties, this Trait is practically a gift.
