According to Abu Hanife’s work “Fiqhu’l-Akbar”, is a person who attributes a place to Allah a disbeliever?

Abu Hanife in his work ”Fikhu’l-Ekber”; “I don’t know, is my Lord in the sky or on the earth?” Anyone who says this becomes an unbeliever. Likewise, “Allah is on the Throne.” The one who says; “I don’t know, is it on the throne, in the sky, or on the earth?” That’s what he says. he is writing. What does this mean and how should we understand it?

Our dear brother,

Imam Azam’s work explaining the principles of faith is “al-Fıkhu’l-Akbar” . His Holiness Abu Hanife says that it is not possible to attribute space and space to Allah, who is free from space and space.

Various studies have been conducted on this work. One of these is the commentary made by Aliyyü’l-Kari. Aliyyü’l-Kari explains these words of Imam Azam as follows:

Allah Almighty says: “He is supreme over His servants…” (1). The exaltation of Allah Almighty over His creatures is not exaltation in terms of place and space. On the contrary, it is because it is superior and sublime. As a matter of fact, this is the view adopted by the Ahl al-Sunnah waljama’ah. This is even the view of the Mu’tazila, Kharijites and other people of heresy. However, some people who attribute direction and side to Allah Almighty and the Mücessime group are excluded. Allah Almighty is above and beyond what they say.

Some hadiths and verses indicating the attribute of greatness and superiority are evidence that the scholars of the predecessors will prove the attribute of Allah Almighty. However, all of them are interpreted with the greatness expressed by the adjectives victorious, dominant and dominant.

The matter narrated from Abu Muti’ al-Balhi is of this kind, that he said to Abu Hanifa, “I do not know whether my Lord is in the sky or on the earth.” When asked about the situation of the person who said, Abu Hanifa (ra) replied: He has become an unbeliever. Because Allah Almighty said: “The Most Merciful (Allah) invaded the Throne.” (3) said. His Throne is above the seven heavens.

Sheikh al-Imam Ibn Abdüsselam mentioned in his book titled “Halli’r-Rumuz” that Imam-i A’zam said: “Whoever says, “I do not know whether Allah is in the sky or on the earth,” is an unbeliever. It is possible. Because this statement gives the wrong idea that God Almighty has a place. Whoever has such a wrong opinion is a sinner. It would compare God to creatures, which is never true. His Holiness Imam Azam also says that we should avoid things that mean place and place to Allah. (4
