It is impossible to build a career where you are not appreciated. The following five warning signs will help you to be wary in time. Perhaps it is time to say goodbye to your previous profession and start life from scratch.
Walk in circles
Looking back, you find that nothing has changed since then. The same type of tasks are half the trouble if they help you grow as a professional and gain experience. But if your value as a specialist does not change over the years, think about whether you are ready to spend your whole life on your business. If the answer is “no”, this does not mean that in the new field you will only get an intern position. Choose related professions where your achievements will be measurable and you will be able to grow.
Hate your job
Fatigue is normal if you get a positive return: satisfaction from work tasks. If the only thing that makes you work is the fear of being left without a livelihood, it’s time to remember that life is not endless and you are living it right now. Finding a minimum wage job is not a problem, even if it means a complete restart of your career, well-being is more important! Determine in advance what drains you and what, on the contrary, gives you energy, so as not to make the same mistake twice.
You can’t cope
It doesn’t matter what led you to an impossible job – the decision of powerful parents to send you to study a “good” specialty or your own ambitions. It’s okay to make mistakes. The main thing is to admit it in time and not waste time. If you have already tried all the available options to improve your professional level, but feel that this is not your calling, it’s time to experience the joy of conscious choice and a clear vision of the goal.
You work out of habit
Remember what you dreamed of when you started, and soberly assess where you are on the path to your goal now. Perhaps you have reached a dead end through your own fault or have encountered an insurmountable obstacle from the outside. The main thing is to remember that your career is primarily subordinate to you – serfdom was abolished long ago. Be patient and respond to dream vacancies. Probably, a new start will require training – contact real educational organizations: the marathon of your favorite blogger is more entertainment than education. Who would you like to be in 20 years? Take the first step now.
You don’t see the point
What is your mission as a professional? Is it to help people? Or to bake the most delicious bread in town? Whatever your job, it is important that you clearly understand why you get up every day, otherwise you will feel empty. And then it is not far to depression. Make a list of professions that, in your opinion, have clear value, and study the requirements that are listed in the ads. Better yet, talk to someone who already works in the field you are interested in.
