Aside from food, these various conditions can secretly cause our blood sugar to be high. What are they?
1. Sick or stressed
Stress causes an increase in cortisol (a hormone involved in the body’s stress response. During times of illness, the body experiences stress, which ultimately causes an increase in blood sugar.
2. Dehydration
When dehydrated, water stores are reduced, resulting in higher blood glucose concentrations, or high blood sugar levels as the body tries to compensate for the fluid imbalance.
Tips: To overcome this, fulfill your hydration needs by drinking water that is free from contaminants and rich in minerals.
- Use The New eSpring to purify your drinking water.

3. Taking certain medications
Taking certain medications can increase blood glucose levels, including steroids, mood stabilizers (including some antidepressants), and statins and diuretics for heart health. Consult your doctor if taking any of these.
4. Hormon
The hormones glucagon, amylin, epinephrine, cortisol, and growth hormone are involved in blood glucose regulation. They uniquely affect glucose production, as well as the body’s sensitivity to insulin. During pregnancy, hormones secreted by the placenta can cause higher maternal blood sugar levels.
5. Not sleeping well
Lack of sleep can lead to high blood pressure because it affects the body’s ability to regulate stress hormones, which can make the heart work harder.
