Almost everyone knows about Minecraft . The cubic sandbox has become a legend among gamers and even after decades it has not slowed down. And it is not even that it gives players complete freedom of action. Mods made Minecraft great and popular. With their help, you can completely remake the world, adding a plot and quests to it, or make minor changes for a convenient game.
In this article, we will talk about health mods. They can work on your HP bar, change the indicators or show more accurate information.
Damage indicator
Minecraft doesn’t have precise damage indicators. No, if you dig around on the Internet, you can find comparison tables of mobs, which will say how many times you need to hit with a specific weapon to defeat it. For example, zombie number 20 has 20 HP, and a stone sword takes off 5 in one hit. So, to win, you need to hit the zombie 4 times.
With the ToroHealth Damage Indicators mod, everything becomes more visual. All mobs that can be killed get a health bar, where you will see how much damage you do and how much HP is left. You can also enable the display of damage on projectiles.
The mod works on Java Edition versions up to and including 1.19.1, and you will need the Fabric or Forge client to install it.
Health scale
Another mod for the HP bar was made by Provismet. It has two modes of operation. In the first of them, Provi’s Health Bars by default highlights the health of all enemies with a regular bar above their heads. And in the second, it turns a regular battle into a battle with a boss from some game, highlighting a group of mobs and their HP in the upper left corner, with a scale for each enemy.
Additionally, you can enable highlighting of damage and healing from various items and projectiles and activate special healing particles that mobs will generate. These particles will not block the player’s view and can be a great help in tough battles.
The mod works on Java Edition versions up to and including patch 1.21.1. For correct operation, one of the installers is required: Fabric or Quilt.
HP display
Neat is another mod that aims to display an HP bar above any creature. It will also display the unit type and whether it has armor. It can be considered a light version of ToroHealth Damage Indicators, as the mods have similar functionality, but Neat is lighter and will work even for weak PCs.
There are several features:
- The health bar only appears if you have direct vision of the enemy (nothing will be visible behind trees and rocks).
- The color of the scale will change depending on the remaining HP: from green to yellow, and then red.
- Groups health bars for large groups of creatures. For example, hordes of zombies or chickens in a pen will have one large bar with divisions instead of a bunch of small ones.
- Works in co-op mode and allows you to highlight the health of allies in different colors.
The mod works on Java Edition up to version 1.20.1 inclusive. Forge or NeoForge is required for installation.

Better HP is a mod that improves the display of the player’s health, armor, and hunger. It replaces the usual icons with easily understandable numerical indicators. This way, you can quickly notice what’s wrong with your hero.
Features of the mod:
- Digital designation of indicators;
- Displaying the armor indicator on the player’s bottom panel;
- Displaying effects from items (potions, golden apples, etc.);
- Customize colors for better visualization of the state (poisoning, freezing, curse);
- Setting up the positioning of indicators – you can arrange them in a column or remove all unnecessary ones;
- Working with the mod directly during the game.
The mod works on Java Edition up to version 1.20.1 inclusive. Forge, Fabric or NeoForge are required for installation.
Colored hearts
Well, let’s finish the selection with another mod for the HP player. Colorful Hearts replaces the standard renderer of hearts in Minecraft. When your health indicator exceeds 10 hearts, the game by default starts putting them in the second row. With this mod, you can customize your own health display options. Now, instead of going in two rows, your hearts will be colored, for example, blue.
Colors are configured manually in the mod configuration file. You need to specify the desired values in the #RRGGBB format, and you can find the code, for example, on the rapidtables.com website .
The mod works on Java Edition up to version 1.21.1 inclusive. Forge, Fabric, Quilt or NeoForge are required for installation.
