150 Best Truth or Dare Questions

This popular game is guaranteed to save you from despondency, whether it’s a formal evening with your family or a wild party with friends. And thanks to tricky questions and unusual tasks, it will help you get closer, even if you were already friends. We explain the rules of “Truth or Dare” and suggest how to make the game even more interesting.

Who invented the game “Truth or Dare”

The first known prototype is considered to be the ancient Greek children’s game “Vasilinda” – a simulation of the social structure of those times. No one asked questions then – a king was chosen by lot, who told the other participants, his subjects, what to do. Thus, the game popular today originated before our era.

Gradually, Truth or Dare began to take on the features of the game that exists today. In a written source from 1712, it is mentioned under the name “Questions and Commands.” Thanks to Brewer’s Phraseological Dictionary, published a hundred years later, the rules are known: “a commander is elected who orders his subordinates to answer questions.” If the leader is not satisfied with the answer, the player must pay a fine – carry out the command. Otherwise, his face is dirty.

It is known that the game was especially popular with the British on Christmas Eve. Today, Truth or Dare is not tied to any date. It is played without a reason by friends, companies that have gathered by chance, and even families to brighten up the evenings. In the business environment, it is used as a team building activity to unite the employees of the team.

Rules of the game “Truth or Dare”

The modern rules are very simple. By drawing lots, you need to decide who will be the first victim, and who will get the opportunity to ask a question (and assign a task for refusing to answer). If the “victim” chooses the truth between truth and action, you need to answer the question without deceit, briefly, the main thing is sincerity. If you categorically do not want to answer, you will have to pay off with a task.

Who gets the turn is a matter of preference and agreement. For example, the next player can be chosen by the previous one, or he can move in a circle or by lot. If desired, the game can be diversified by additional rules: prohibit refusing a question or task more than three times during the game or choosing “truth” a maximum of two times in a row.

In any company there will probably be a person who refuses to talk about personal topics – relationships, fears or family. Therefore, it is important to agree on stop topics in advance, so as not to quarrel in the process. Particularly gambling companies without complexes prefer to go the opposite way: to come up with only tough questions and tasks. To make the game even more interesting, you can make up questions in advance and draw them out blindly.

There are many ready-made decks with thematic tasks and questions on sale. There are also options with cards of different categories – the player can choose the category of the question to his taste. There are also many special applications with ready-made tasks. But, perhaps, the main secret of the popularity of this simple game is the ability to improvise and change the rules each time by agreement. It will definitely not be boring this way.

However, the point of Truth or Dare is to evoke emotions in the participants. Therefore, even the easiest questions and tasks should at least tickle the nerves a little. We have compiled a list of funny and sometimes uncomfortable questions, as well as tasks for those who prefer to keep a secret to themselves. Be on the lookout – you may also get caught!

How to assign punishments in Truth or Dare

Perhaps during the game someone will be very unlucky: both the question and the task will be beyond their capabilities. Usually for such cases the teams come up with punishments in advance. There are two ways to teach the players who have misbehaved a lesson: the first is when the “refuser” pays the bills immediately, the second is when the debts accumulate and the one who has the most of them loses.

To motivate, punishments should be assigned before the game starts. For example, the loser can take the other participants to the cinema or a restaurant at his own expense, organize a party or clean each comrade’s apartment. You can come up with anything: the list of possible punishments is limited only by your imagination, adventurism and sense of proportion. After all, the game is needed to entertain friends, not to lose them.
