If you lack internal motivation, try these simple tips.
1. Remind yourself of the reason
There are boring things that you just don’t want to do. Remember why you started doing it in the first place. It will make it seem more appealing. If you can’t remember the reason, maybe it’s just not worth it.
2. Work at least a little
Start with five minutes. Often, this small effort is enough to get you motivated.
3. Move correctly
Move as if you are eager to get things done. This approach may seem silly, but it works.
4. Determine the next step
You can’t work on a project all at once. When we have a shapeless mass of work in front of us, we procrastinate . Break it down into specific steps to make it easier for yourself.
5. Understand what is stopping you from working
Maybe you are tired, afraid, bored, worried, angry? You do not have enough time or you are waiting for information from someone? Do not expect that everything will go away on its own. Find out the reason and eliminate it.
6. Analyze your fears
It’s unlikely that you have a phobia that prevents you from finishing things. But hidden fears and anxieties prevent you from concentrating on work. Identify them. And then convince yourself that you can handle any situation.
7. Team up with someone
Find someone who can motivate you when you’re feeling lazy. For example, go to the gym with a friend. This will help you not to give up.
8. Start your day right
Plan your day in the evening. Get up early and start important tasks in the morning. This will give you a boost of motivation for the second half of the day.
9. Read books
Not only for self-development and motivation, but in general any works that contain new ideas. Learning something new will make your brain work.
10. Find the right tools
Your environment has a big impact on your mood. A slow computer, an inconvenient app, or a car that constantly breaks down will quickly demotivate you.
11. Reframing small problems into big ones
The worst things for motivation are seemingly small problems that just won’t get solved. They irritate you and completely take away your desire to do anything. Reframe them so that they seem big.
12. Create your own mantra
Find a few phrases that help you concentrate and motivate you. For example, quotes from your favorite book or a speech by a speaker. Simple words that tell you what to do will also work. For example, “Act right now!”
13. Be inspired by your successes
When you succeed in something, you want to do more and more. Even a small victory is enough to inspire you. You were praised by colleagues or you quickly completed a task – all this charges you with energy.
Plan your day so that you can achieve one or two small victories before lunch. This will increase your motivation for the rest of the day. Plan tasks for the morning that you will definitely complete. For example, going to the gym or answering an important email.
The best way to motivate yourself is to organize your life so that you don’t need motivation. If your work is a constant battle with yourself, it’s time to consider a change. Use external motivation in extreme cases, but don’t rely on it all the time.
