Stephen Crane wrote “ The Red Badge of Courage.” Stephen Crane was a native of New York City; for a time he was a newspaper man connected with the Newark Daily Advertiser. When he wrote his famous “ Red Badge of Courage,” literary critics hailed him as the writer of the coming “ great American novel,” but he died while still very young, while visiting foreign lands. His remains were brought back to New York and buried within a few miles of his birthplace.
