Benzydamine is an anti-inflammatory, analgesic and local anesthetic remedy, used to treat inflammation and pain. The active substance in this medicine is benzydamine hydrochloride.Benzydamine is available in the form of tablets and drops, and is produced by the Aché laboratory.
Indications of Benzydamine
Benflogin is indicated for the treatment of pharyngitis, laryngitis, tracheitis, bronchitis, gingivitis, stomatitis, alveolitis, dislocations, fractures, contusions, cystitis, prostatites and neuritis.
How To Use Benzydamine (Dosage)
Dragees
- Adult: 1 dram, 3 to 4 times daily
Oral solution (Drops)
- Adult: 40 drops (60 mg), 3 to 4 times daily.
- Children up to 12 years: 1 drop (1.5 mg) / kg body weight, 3 to 4 times daily, diluted in water.
Dosages may vary at the discretion of the physician.
Side Effects
The side effects of Benflogin can be anxiety, insomnia, restlessness, convulsions and visual changes. Gastric manifestations may also occur, such as nausea, epigastric burning, and a retrosternal burning sensation.
Contraindications
Benflogin is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component of the formula and with severe liver or kidney problems. It is also contraindicated during the first three months of pregnancy.
How does Benzydamine work?
Benzydamine hydrochloride is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, derived from imidazole, indicated for systemic or topical use. Because it is not steroid, it does not exhibit the adverse effects characteristic of these compounds.Benzydamine hydrochloride belongs to primary anti-inflammatory drugs because it inhibits inflammatory processes more with local mechanisms than with systemic ones.
It accumulates, preferentially, in the inflamed tissues and their effects are manifested only in organs altered pathologically. Benzydamine hydrochloride has analgesic efficacy and local anesthetic.
Benflogin (benzydamine hydrochloride) should not be used:
- For patients allergic to benzydamine and any component of the formula;
- During the first trimester of pregnancy;
- In severe hepatic and renal dysfunction.
Benflogin (benzydamine hydrochloride) should be administered preferably during or after meals in order to avoid gastric disturbances. Tell your doctor about any medicines you are taking, before starting, or during treatment.
